Hyundai Ioniq 5: Bookings to commence in December

Hyundai has announced that it will start bookings for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 from December 20 in 2022. The company claims to utilize earth-friendly materials in the upcoming EV model.

The customer bookings for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 will start on December 20, 2022.

Hyundai Motor India has officially revealed that it will start accepting pre-orders for the Ioniq 5 EV. The EV supported by the E-GMP platform is most likely to debut at the upcoming Indian Auto Expo 2023. Price details are still under wraps by the company. The Ioniq 5 is provided with two battery packs- a 58 kWh battery pack and a 72.6 kWh battery pack in international markets. With the former battery pack, the car claims 385 kilometres of range while with the latter battery pack, it claims 480 kilometres of range. The standard version is equipped with a single electric motor that produces 165bhp and 350Nm and the dual-motor version produces 298bhp and 605Nm. 

Inside the cabin, the Ioniq 5 EV will come furnished with eco-processed leather. The car's carpet fabric and headliner will be manufactured of bio-components sourced from corn and sugarcane. Further, the company has also revealed that the use of bio paint will be made for switches, crash pads, door panels, and steering wheel. Additionally, the seatback and door armrests will also have eco-friendly fabric. 

The new EV by Hyundai will feature a vision roof with a full-length glass panel devoid of any centre partition, Parametric Pixel LED headlamps, R20 (512.8mm) Alloy Wheels, and a large glovebox. It is highly anticipated that the car after its launch in India is likely to compete with the Volvo XC40 Recharge and the Kia EV6
