Kia Carens MPV Crosses 1 Lakh Units Sales Milestone in India in 20 Months

It took Kia India a little over one and a half years to clock the 1 lakh sales milestone. It is offered in 6 variants – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, Luxury Plus, and X-Line.

According to a statement issued by Kia, The Carens MPV has surpassed the 1 lakh sales milestone within 20 months of its launch in India. The vehicle went on sale in February 2022, quickly gaining popularity in the Indian market. Consequently, the waiting period for the seven-seater Carens increased to over a year for higher-spec variants. With prices starting from Rs 10.45 lakh (ex-showroom), the Carens MPV does not have any direct rivals in our market and is positioned between the other two successful MPVs in the country – the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta. The Kia Carens is available in two seating configurations and six variants. A new variant of the Carens MPV, the X-Line, has been recently added to the model line-up. Priced at Rs 18.94 lakh and 19.44 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Petrol DCT version and the Diesel 6AT, respectively, the X-Line is a top-of-the-line model with cosmetic and feature upgrades.

The Kia Carens is available in Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, Luxury Plus, and X-Line variants. Only the top-spec Luxury Plus trim is available in 6- and 7-seat configurations; all other trims are only available as a 7-seater. The Caren's colour options include Imperial Blue, Moss Brown, Sparkling Silver, Intense Red, Glacier White Pearl, Clear White, Gravity Grey, and Aurora Black Pearl.

Kia Carens MPV: Powertrain

Under the hood, the MPV gets three engine options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. Replacing the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit, the new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine makes 159bhp and 253Nm of peak torque. For transmission, the turbo-petrol engine uses an iMT and a seven-speed DCT unit. The NA petrol makes 113bhp and 144Nm, while the diesel version cranks out 114bhp and 250Nm. All powertrains available with the Carens are RDE-compliant and E20 fuel-ready.

Kia Carens MPV: Features

Feature-wise, the MPV packs a 12.5-inch digital instrument cluster with the 4.2-inch colour MID, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with connected car technology, keyless entry, cruise control, heated front seats, wireless phone charging, automatic climate control, and a rear-view camera. For safety, 6 airbags, ABS, ESC, hill start, descent control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system are all standard with the model.

Kia Carens MPV: Price

In terms of pricing, the Carens retails between Rs 10.45 lakh and Rs 18.95 lakh, with the range-topping X-Line version asking for at least Rs 18.94 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.

The Carens competes against other MPVs such as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Innova Crysta, Hyundai Alacazar, and Mahindra Marazzo.
