Made-in-India Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Launched in Japan; Priced Equivalent to Rs 14.86 Lakh

The made-in-India Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door has finally entered Japan with the name ‘Suzuki Jimny Nomade.’ This version is priced between 2,651,000 yen and 2,750,000 yen, which translates to around Rs 14.86 lakh to Rs 15.41 lakh. This makes the Japan-spec model approximately Rs 2.12 lakh costlier than its Indian counterpart, which starts at Rs 12.74 lakh (ex-showroom). The Jimny 5-door, exclusively produced at Maruti Suzuki’s facility in Gurugram, Haryana, has a strong global following as an off-road legend and is sold in nearly 100 countries. Its launch in Japan is a key milestone for Maruti Suzuki, as the second SUV—after the Fronx—to enter Suzuki’s home market in 2024-25.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, of Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, 'The introduction of ‘Made in India’ Jimny 5-door in Japan is a testament to the global level of excellence in our manufacturing capability. It is our second model to be exported to Japan in this fiscal year (FY 2024-25) after Fronx in August 2024.'

He also added 'Jimny is the second most exported Maruti Suzuki car in FY 2024-25^. After its resounding success in markets like Mexico, Australia, and South Africa, we are confident that it will delight customers in Japan. The export of Jimny reaffirms our commitment towards ''Make-in-India'' for the world.'

Suzuki Jimny Nomade: Design

The boxy Jimny Nomade looks familiar, with a five-slat grille with the Suzuki logo, round headlights, fog lamps, and traditional turn signals. The conventional door handles and a rear-mounted spare tyre further add to the look. However, what sets this model apart is its unique colour palette, which notably excludes the vibrant and popular Kinetic Yellow option.

Suzuki Jimny Nomade: Interior and Features

The Jimny Nomade swaps out the all-black upholstery found in the India-spec version for a grey and black fabric option, plus it adds the comfort of heated front seats. It also boasts a different touchscreen system, replacing the 9-inch unit seen in the Indian model.

The SUV is expected to have cruise control, connected car tech, automatic climate control, and keyless entry. On the safety front, the Nomade is likely to offer rear parking sensors with a camera, multiple airbags, and ABS with EBD.

Suzuki Jimny Nomade: Under the Hood

The Suzuki Jimny Nomade is powered by the same 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, delivering 101bhp and 130Nm of torque—slightly less than the India-spec model by about 3bhp and 4Nm. However, both versions come with 4WD as standard.
