Maruti Suzuki has introduced a software upgrade for the new-generation Baleno. The upgrade adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility to the hatchback's nine-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system. It is being offered as an Over-The-Air (OTA) upgrade and is available for the Zeta and Alpha top-spec versions of the Baleno hatchback.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno's wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity will provide turn-by-turn navigation on the heads-up display and the MID in the instrument cluster.
The new Baleno is powered by a new 1.2-litre K-series dual-jet, dual-VVT petrol engine with start/stop technology to improve fuel economy. It generates 88bhp of maximum power and 113Nm of peak torque. The 2022 Baleno comes with a 5-speed manual transmission and an upgraded Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission.
The hatchback has several safety features, including anti-hill control, six airbags, and more. The Suzuki logo is branded on a bigger front grill on the 2022 Baleno, along with DRL taillamps and alloy wheels. Additionally, it has a built-in Suzuki Connect system with more than 40 connected functions, a 17.78cm Smart Play Pro touchscreen infotainment system with voice control, and other features.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno has a starting price of Rs 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes in four variants - Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. The most expensive model is priced at Rs 9.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The hatchback competes with the likes of the Toyota Glanza. The Brezza from Maruti Suzuki recently received a similar update. It is possible that the firm may also offer it with the Maruti Suzuki XL6.
