Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door Arrives at Nexa Showrooms in India Ahead of Launch

Maruti Suzuki will launch the Jimny-5 door in India soon. The off-roader was showcased, alongside the Fronx, at the Auto Expo 2023. According to reports, the new Jimny has already received more than 18,000 pre-orders in India. For those unaware, the Jimny acquired 9,000 reservations in the first ten days, demonstrating its popularity among Indian consumers even before the official launch. In a recent development, the new Jimny has reached the Nexa outlets in India. Maruti Suzuki intends to offer a first-hand experience of the model to buyers prior to the launch, and therefore, it has put the SUV on display – it will initially be on display for only one or two days. The production is expected to begin in April 2023. The market launch and price announcement, however, are most likely to happen in May 2023. Here's a complete set of details on the most anticipated off-roader in India. 

Maruti Suzuki Jimny-5 Door: Mechanical Specifications

Powering the new Jimny will be a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine, producing 104bhp and 134Nm. It comes mated to either a 4-speed torque-converter automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission. Suzuki's AllGrip Pro 4WD system with a manual transfer case and a low-range transmission with 2WD-high, 4WD-high, and 4WD-low modes make up the Jimny 5-door's off-road features. The new SUV will be created in the company's Gujarat production site, where the three-door Jimny is presently made for export. Instead of the monocoque architecture, the five-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny has a ladder frame chassis.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny-5 Door: Dimensions, Variants & Features 

Dimensions-wise, the new Jimny is 3,985mm in length, 1,645mm in width, and 1,720mm in height. It has a 208-litre boot space and a 2,590mm of wheelbase. The new version's wheelbase is 300mm longer than the 3-door model. 

The Jimny will be offered in Zeta and Alpha trims, the latter of which will have additional features, including auto headlights, the SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, and an Arkamys sound system. On the safety front, Maruti Suzuki will offer hill-hold assistance and six airbags as standard.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny-5 Door: Design, Prices & Rivals 

The SUV in a five-door avatar has a boxy shape, flared wheel arches, an upright front grille, circular headlights, and rectangular taillights. While the Alpha model will come fitted with alloy wheels, the Zeta variant will have steel wheels. 

Price-wise, the Jimny-5 Door is expected to cost between Rs 11 and Rs 12 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom. After its launch, it will compete with the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha, both of which will soon make their 5-door debut.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny-5 Door: Expected Launch Timeline 

The bookings of the SUV are currently underway in India at Rs 25,000. There is no official update on the launch of the off-roader yet, but we expect it to hit Indian roads by May this year. Maruti Suzuki has begun showcasing the model to customers via Nexa showrooms in a phased manner.
