MG has added a new Pro variant to the Windsor EV range to strengthen its presence in the increasingly competitive electric SUV segment, which includes rivals like the Tata Nexon EV and the Hyundai Creta Electric. The Pro variant features a larger 52.9kWh battery, significantly increasing the range to 449 kilometres from the standard 332 kilometres. It also includes a few unique features that set it apart. The new Windsor Pro competes with top-spec models of various EVs in the market, including the Nexon EV. We compare the Nexon 45 with the Pro variant to determine which offers the best value for money.
In terms of performance, the Tata Nexon EV Empowered Plus 45 holds an edge over the MG Windsor EV Essence Pro. Despite the Windsor featuring a larger 52.9kWh battery, it delivers 134bhp and 200Nm, which is 8bhp and 15Nm less than the Nexon’s 45kWh setup that produces 142bhp and 215Nm.
The Nexon EV, with its 45kWh battery, also delivers a higher range of 489 kilometres, while the Windsor Pro offers a range of 449 kilometres.
Both variants come well-equipped with a solid array of features, including some shared ones like a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) capabilities.

Despite these similarities, each model also has its own distinct set of equipment. For instance, the Windsor Pro stands out with a 256-colour ambient lighting system, flush door handles, a powered tailgate, a larger 15.6-inch touchscreen, an advanced ADAS package, and a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
Meanwhile, the Nexon EV boasts front parking sensors, a more expansive 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a rear wiper, and a panoramic sunroof.
The Windsor Pro is priced at Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom), which places it roughly Rs 50,000 above the Nexon EV’s top-spec Empowered Plus 45 variant, priced at Rs 16.99 lakh.

However, MG offers a more flexible option with its battery rental scheme, bringing the upfront cost down to just Rs 12.50 lakh, plus Rs 4.5 per km for battery usage. This approach makes the Pro version more accessible to buyers looking for a lower entry point.
