Land Rover has unveiled an updated Defender model featuring a range of enhancements to its exterior design, interior comfort, and functional capabilities. These upgrades aim to elevate the vehicle’s renowned off-road performance while also enhancing its appeal to discerning buyers. Land Rover has not changed the Defender’s body format lineup, which continues to be offered in three versions: the compact 90, the mid-size 110, and the full-size 130. Similarly, the mechanical offerings remain unchanged in the Indian market. Customers can choose from five powertrain options, ranging from a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and its plug-in hybrid counterpart to a 3.0-litre diesel. For those seeking more performance, two V8 options are available – a 5.0-litre and a 4.4-litre unit.
As for pricing, the Defender currently retails in India from Rs 1.05 crore at the entry level, stretching up to Rs 2.79 crore for the top-end variants. Both mentioned prices are ex-showroom figures.
The updated Defender SUV sports refined design, upgraded in-car tech, and various customisation options without straying from its rugged DNA. All variants – including the 90, 110, and 130 – now feature redesigned lighting elements, including subtly reworked LED signatures and darkened taillamps that sit flush with the bodywork. The front and rear bumpers have also been subtly reshaped, and gloss black trim on the grille now comes standard across the board. Replacing the previous checker-plate accents, the hood and side vents adopt a more contemporary textured pattern.

Later in 2025, Land Rover will introduce a matte white wrap option – exclusive to V8-powered versions – for buyers looking to stand out even further. Though not a full redesign, these exterior adjustments refine the Defender’s aesthetics in a way that subtly distinguishes it from the outgoing model.
Inside, the Defender adopts a more tech-forward layout with a larger 13.1-inch touchscreen replacing the outgoing 11.4-inch unit. While most of the cabin layout remains intact, slight ergonomic tweaks – like a repositioned gear lever – enhance usability. The centre console now includes removable side pockets for more flexible use of space, a sliding component, and deeper storage.
