Mahindra has released a teaser for a new electric SUV, which has been named as the Mahindra XEV 9S. Though the carmaker hasn’t disclosed any details about the SUV yet, we expect that it will be a tweaked version of the Mahindra XEV 9e. It seems that Mahindra has, for some reason best known to itself, dropped the ‘e’ from the name and added an S instead.
Based on the purpose-built INGLO platform, the XEV 9S is likely to ditch the coupe styling of the XEV 9e, and come with an upright design for the rear instead, thereby allowing space for an additional row of seats. Mahindra says that the second row seats will come with a sliding function.

The electric SUV will be unveiled on November 27, 2025, at Mahindra’s Scream Electric event in Bengaluru.
The XEV 9S will be Mahindra’s third born-electric SUV, following the XEV 9e and the BE 6. It is likely to share its powertrain options with the other two cars. These include a 228bhp electric motor paired with a 59kWh battery pack, and a 281bhp motor paired with a 79kWh battery pack.
