Nissan India has exported over 12 lakh cars and SUVs from India to various international markets over the last fifteen years.

With a market share of less than 1% at present, Nissan effectively sells just one car in India — the Magnite sub-compact SUV. Despite doing such low sales numbers in the domestic market, Nissan India is doing quite well in terms of exports. The carmaker has just crossed the 12 lakh units sales milestone for exports in a little over fifteen years from the commencement of international sales from India.
In the past, Nissan has exported cars like the Sunny, Kicks, and Micra to markets including Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
It currently exports just the Magnite from India, which is exclusively manufactured at its Chennai plant. It is made in both LHD and RHD configurations, and is sent to 65 countries across the globe.

Marking the occasion, Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan India, said, ‘We are proud to celebrate yet another historic milestone of exporting 1.2 million Nissan vehicles from India. This achievement reflects the collective dedication of our teams and the trust of customers across the world in our made-in-India cars. The Nissan Magnite continues to be a global success story, representing our focus on design, quality, and innovation that transcends borders.’
The Magnite comes with two engine options — a 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that can be paired with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT, and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that can be paired with a 5-speed manual or a CVT.

The Japanese carmaker has plans to expand its presence in India and aims to regain some market share with the launch of the upcoming Nissan Tekton, which will compete in the highly-competitive C-SUV segment. A seven-seater MPV based on the Renault Triber is also expected to soon be launched in the country.
