Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Sets New EV Lap Record at Interlagos, Outpaces Turbo S by 8 Seconds
The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and Weissach package variant have an upgraded rear-axle pulse inverter with silicon carbide, enhancing efficiency and power delivery.

Porsche’s Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package has achieved a new electric vehicle lap record at Brazil's Interlagos F1 circuit, outperforming the Turbo S by eight seconds. The model had previously set records at the Nurburgring Nordschliefe, Shanghai International Circuit, and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in California. This marks the fourth lap record the German manufacturer has claimed with its track-focused electric sports car, spanning four continents. The Taycan Turbo GT benefits from improved aerodynamics, a refined chassis, and strong acceleration, allowing it to achieve this record-breaking lap time. As Porsche continues to develop its electric lineup, this achievement reinforces the brand’s commitment to pushing EV capabilities on the track.
Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Sets A New Benchmark

Felipe Nasr – a three-time IMSA champion and three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona – completed a lap of the 4.3-km Interlagos circuit in 1:42.1 minutes. This new benchmark slashed nearly eight seconds off the previous EV record set by the Taycan Turbo S in 2022 (1:49.8 minutes) and came in just under a second faster than the earlier production car record held by the 911 Turbo S (1:43.087 minutes).

Sharing his thoughts on the milestone, Nasr said, 'Coming to Interlagos and getting behind the wheel of the Taycan Turbo GT right after winning the 24 Hours of Daytona was an incredible experience. I expected the strong acceleration and brutal torque, but, ultimately, it was the overall performance that impressed me. On the uphill climb before 'Curva do Café', just before the main straight, I used Attack Mode, and the car reached 272km/h by the end of the corner. On the exit of 'Curva do Sol', I was already reaching more than 200km/h coming onto the back straight. It is amazing how brutally the car accelerates and delivers its power. The steering of the Taycan Turbo GT was very precise in the slow corners and remained stable even under heavy braking. The balance, the grip – a real performance machine.'
Featuring a mix of high-speed straights, technical corners, and significant elevation changes, the Interlagos circuit is known to present a demanding challenge for drivers.
Porsche's Weissach Package
Porsche has expanded the top tier of its all-electric sports sedan lineup with the introduction of the Taycan Turbo GT and the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package. These models feature an upgraded pulse inverter on the rear axle, incorporating silicon carbide for improved efficiency and power delivery. Both versions can momentarily exceed 986bhp, while an Attack Mode function provides an additional 161bhp boost for up to 10 seconds at the press of a button.

Engineered for track use, this system is inspired by the power deployment technology in Porsche’s 99X Formula E race cars. A countdown timer in the instrument cluster, accompanied by animated rings on the speedometer, visually signals the duration of the temporary power surge. Moreover, these Turbo versions come standard with Porsche Active Ride suspension, especially tuned for GT performance.
