Increasing demand and popularity of the Rapid Rider variant has forced Skoda to bring it back on sale. It now demands Rs 7.79 lakh, which is roughly Rs 30,000 more than before.
Skoda introduced the updated Rapid in May last year at an extremely competitive starting price of Rs 7.49 lakh for the base Rider trim. With features like a 2-DIN infotainment system, with Bluetooth, AUX, and USB connectivity, an automatic climate control system, four power windows, rear defogger, and more, the Rider variant offered phenomenal value for money. In fact, it became quite a hot seller for Skoda, so much so that the brand had to temporarily halt bookings in July 2020. Later in September, in a one-on-one interaction, Brand Director, Zac Hollis told us that the variant was pretty much sold out for the year.
Skoda has now reintroduced the Rapid Rider variant, but it is now priced at Rs 7.79 lakh, which is roughly Rs 30,000 dearer than before. The Rapid Rider Plus trim, which was introduced after the discontinuation of the Rider variant, will continue to be on sale. Priced at Rs 8.19 lakh, the Rider Plus is now Rs 20,000 dearer than before. For 2021, Skoda has also increased the pricing of select variants. The Skoda Rapid comes with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor, which develops 108.5bhp and 175Nm. This engine comes paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
