The Tata Nexon emerged as the best-selling car in January 2026, highlighting its popularity among compact SUV buyers in India. It was followed by the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, a well-liked sedan widely used for both personal and fleet purposes. The Punch SUV claimed third place, followed by the Hyundai Creta in fourth. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga rounded out the top 5 best-sellers. Let’s take a closer look at how these best-selling cars performed in January 2026.

The Nexon, including its electric variant, had total sales of 23,365 units in January 2026. This represents a remarkable increase from the 15,397 units sold in January 2025, reflecting a strong year-over-year growth of 51.75%. With this performance, the Nexon/EV captured a significant market share of 12.91% for the month.

Following closely, the Dzire sold 19,629 units in January 2026, compared to 15,383 units the previous year. This translated to a healthy growth of 27.60%. The Dzire holds a 10.85% share of the market, making it the second most popular vehicle for the month.

Tata Motors sold 19,257 units of the Punch and the Punch EV in January 2026, registering an increase of 18.64% from 16,231 units sold in the same month last year. The SUV's market share stood at 10.64%, placing it solidly in third place among the top-selling cars.

Despite a YoY decline of 3.24%, the Creta/EV secured fourth position on the list. It sold 17,921 units in January 2026, compared to 18,522 units the previous year. The Hyundai Creta held a market share of 9.91% in January.

The Ertiga sold 17,892 units in January 2026, exhibiting a rise of 25.58% from last year's 14,248 units. Maruti Suzuki's popular MPV had a market share of 9.89% last month.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift secured the sixth spot with 17,806 units sold, closely followed by the Brezza at seventh position with 17,486 units. The Baleno claimed the eighth place, garnering 16,782 deliveries, while the Scorpio/N (ninth position) and the newly launched Victoris (tenth place) recorded 15,542 and 15,240 units respectively, completing the list of top 10 best-selling cars in January 2026.
