Century breaks off from Toyota as a standalone premium brand, with an aim to take the British ultra-luxury carmakers head-on.

It is the Vellfire that represents the epitome of Toyota’s luxuriousness and class for us in India. But that is not the case for Japan — they have had the Toyota Century as the carmaker’s flagship offering, and it has been the go-to choice for the country’s ultra rich. Toyota has taken a radical step for Century, breaking it away from Toyota as a standalone brand, with an aim to rival the likes of Rolls-Royce and Bentley. Marking this move, Century has launched a new coupe concept at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.
The concept wears Century’s phoenix logo and features ‘CENTURY’ lettering at the back. It features a long bonnet with vents on top, body-coloured front grille, asymmetrical doors, a flowing roofline, and humongous multi-spoke alloy wheels.

The interior of the concept vehicle features a four-seater layout with a lounge-like passenger seat. There’s a translucent partition that separates the driver from the rest of the cabin. The steering wheel is shaped like an aircraft yoke, and is surrounded by three screens — one in landscape orientation and the other two in portrait.

Century’s phoenix emblem is seen on various surfaces inside the cabin, as well as on the outside. Details about the powertrain of the car are yet to be disclosed, though design cues like the front grille, air intakes, and hood vents suggest that it will come with an IC engine.
