BMW Group India Registers 51% Growth In Q1 2024, Sells 3,680 Units

BMW's Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) continued to be a significant driver of sales, representing 54 per cent of the overall sales and witnessing a remarkable growth of 62 per cent.

BMW Group India sold 3,680 vehicles, including BMW and MINI models, in the first quarter of the 2024 calendar year, which is an increase of 51 per cent compared to the same quarter last year. The increase in sales was mostly driven by increased demand for Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs), Luxury Class sedans, and Electric Vehicles (EVs). The BMW brand sold a total of 3,510 units, while MINI contributed 170 cars to the overall sales. Sales were strong for BMW's X7, X3, X1, and 3 Series, all of which are highly sought-after cars. With 211 electric cars delivered in the first quarter of 2024, BMW Group India maintained its dominance in the premium electric car market. 

During the first quarter of 2024, BMW's Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) accounted for 54 per cent of the company's overall sales, indicating a remarkable increase of more than 62 per cent. The X1 was the best-selling SAV, accounting for over 20 per cent of all SAV sales. The 3 Series family dominated the sedan market, accounting for 16 per cent of all sales.

Mr. Vikram Pawah, President, of BMW Group India, said, 'BMW Group India has posted strong performance in the first quarter of the year. Breaking earlier records, Q1 car sales achieved new heights with successful growth of +51 per cent! Our firm leadership in the luxury electric car market remains undisputed, thanks to the most diverse range of products. The exclusive BMW Luxury Class has also assumed a segment-leading position. Our key car models are at the top of their game and with significant new launches in the pipeline, we will raise the heat in the luxury market.'

BMW India sold 211 electric cars from January to March 2024, registering a more than 26 per cent increase compared to the previous year. The BMW i7 has achieved the highest sales volume among electric vehicle models in the nation. Currently, BMW Group India provides a variety of electric vehicles (EVs), such as the BMW i7, iX, i4, iX1, and MINI SE. Additionally, the BMW i5 is expected to be introduced in India soon.
