Maruti Suzuki Brezza Front View

The largest passenger vehicle manufacturer in India, Maruti Suzuki, has revealed its sales figures for April 2024. For the past 40 years, the company has topped the Indian auto sales chart each month and has maintained its dominance last month as well. Maruti Suzuki sold 1.68 lakh units overall in April this year, including more than 1.6 lakh passenger cars. Nonetheless, the company's sales increased by just a single digit in the first month of the current fiscal year. With both domestic and overseas markets combined, the manufacturer's total passenger vehicle sales for last month stood at over 1.60 lakh units. This is an increase of 5,821 units in monthly total passenger vehicle sales (year-over-year). For April 2024, this corresponds to a 3.57 per cent rise in monthly total passenger vehicle sales. The company sold more than 1.54 lakh passenger vehicles in April last year.

Maruti Suzuki Sales Figures: April 2024

The manufacturer was able to sell about 1.38 lakh passenger cars on the home market last month. This indicates a 632 unit rise in monthly domestic passenger vehicle sales (year-over-year). For April 2024, this equates to a 0.46 per cent rise in monthly domestic passenger vehicle sales. Last April, Maruti Suzuki sold close to 1.37 lakh passenger cars in India.

It's clear from the export data that the company saw robust expansion in this sector. In April 2024, Maruti Suzuki was able to ship 22,160 passenger cars. It indicates a 2,189-unit increase in monthly passenger vehicle shipments (year-over-year). In addition to this, a 12.89 per cent increase in exports was witnessed last month. In April 2023, Maruti Suzuki exported a total of 16,971 passenger cars.

Maruti Suzuki Swift India Launch on May 9

Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch the fourth-gen Swift hatchback in India on May 9. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z Series petrol engine, which powers the Japan-spec Swift, will be available for the India-spec model as well. Expect the power and torque figures to be similar to those of the existing K Series 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol unit. The K12 mill develops 89bhp of maximum power and 113Nm of peak torque. As for the transmission, we expect the upcoming vehicle to offer both manual and automatic units, although the company has yet to make it official.

With its updated grille, revamped bumper, sharper LED headlamps, and red exterior, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift has an evolutionary appearance. We anticipate the all-new hatchback to have new alloy wheels, side door handles, and revised LED tail lamps at the back.
