In light of the current lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Volvo has extended the warranty on its cars till the end of May 2020. This will be available for customers, whose warranty was expiring between March 22-May 3, 2020.

Volvo Car India has announced that it will extending warranty on its cars till May 31, 2020. The move comes in response to the ongoing countrywide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The extended warranty plan will be available for Volvo car owners in the country, whose warranty was expiring between March 22-May 3, 2020.

Commenting on the development, Charles Frump, Managing Director, Volvo Car India said, “The health and safety of our employees and customers is of paramount importance for us. We fully support the Government’s lockdown initiative in order to curtail the spread of COVID-19, during the lockdown some of our customers may have faced warranty issues and we are happy to extend the warranty till 31st May 2020 for customers whose warranty ends between 22nd March and 3rd May 2020.”

In view of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, Volvo’s dealerships had been closed in March 2020 itself and the employees have been working from home since. Due to the Coronavirus crisis in March and the slowdown in the Indian auto industry prior to that, Volvo’s sales are expected to have taken a hit in the fiscal year 2019-20 (the sales report will be out soon). However, the company recorded an impressive growth of 25% in FY2018-19 as the Swedish luxury carmaker sold 2,687 cars in the last fiscal. Volvo’s current line-up in India includes vehicles like the XC90, XC60, XC40, V90 Cross Country and the S90. All these vehicles were updated to meet the BS-VI norms in February 2020.
