The Bolero Neo Plus, a larger variant of the body-on-frame sub-four metre Bolero Neo SUV, will shortly be added by Mahindra to the Bolero line-up. The new Bolero Neo SUV iteration will largely be a redesigned version of the tough TUV300 Plus, which was sold from 2018 until April 2020. Here's what we can expect from the upcoming model in terms of drivetrain, design, features, and more.

Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus: Engine and Gearbox

Mahindra is likely to continue using the same drivetrain as that of the Bolero Neo, which means that the Bolero Neo Plus will have a 1.5-litre diesel engine (100bhp) and a five-speed manual gearbox. It won't have 4WD, and the homegrown carmaker is unlikely to offer an automated transmission. It could, however, receive a mechanical locking differential like the Bolero Neo.

Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus: Design

It won’t be unreasonable to expect that the Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus will share some of the Bolero Neo's design cues. A sculpted front bumper, a toothy, chrome-finished grille, and black shoulder panelling, extending the full length of the SUV, were all seen in the previous spy photos of the car. It will continue with the 15-inch alloy wheels of the Bolero Neo Regular. The Bolero Neo Plus might not have blacked-out B- and C-pillars, though, like its smaller sibling.

As with the TUV300 and TUV300 Plus, the Plus's rear design would differ significantly from the Bolero Neo's. The rear bumpers will be slightly modified, and the taillamps will be reprofiled. The spare wheel, which is positioned on the tailboard and has an 'X' shape, will remain on the vehicle.

Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus: Interior

Two seating configurations and five variations will reportedly be offered with the Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus – the P10 (R) seven-seater, P10 seven-seater, P10 (R), P10, and P4 seven-seater. The latter will also be offered as an ambulance with a stretcher. The second and third rows of the seven-seater variants' bench seats will face forward, whilst the nine-seat version will have side-facing rear seats.

Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus: Features

In terms of features, Mahindra is likely to provide the Bolero Neo Plus with more features than the Bolero Neo. As is customary with new releases, the Bolero Neo Plus may gain more airbags and connected car technology. The latter will include a touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, a reverse parking camera, rear parking sensors, an adjustable driver’s seat, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and other features.

Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus: Expected Price

Mahindra's line-up of ladder-frame cars will soon include the Bolero Neo Plus. The model will be positioned above the Bolero Neo and near the new Scorpio Classic, providing Mahindra's wildly popular SUV with a more useful replacement. The Bolero Neo Plus' price is likely to be around Rs 1 lakh more than the Bolero Neo's. For comparison, the Bolero Neo costs Rs 9.48 – 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Neo Plus will go on sale in the upcoming months and won't have any direct competitors.
