Mahindra Scorpio Classic Waiting Period Stretches to Over 7 Months in India

According to industry reports, the waiting period for the revamped Scorpio Classic has increased in India. The SUV has two variants: the S and the S11, which are currently experiencing long waiting times of more than seven months. Several reports claim that the carmaker is witnessing heavy demand for the SUV, which has contributed to its extended waiting duration in the market. For those unaware, the Scorpio SUV sales significantly surged in April 2023. The Scorpio-N and the Scorpio Classic SUVs, according to the company, were instrumental in the accomplishment. Price-wise, the car currently retails between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 16.81 lakh (Both prices, ex-showroom Delhi). Mahindra Scorpio Classic: Engine & Gearbox
Powering the Scorpio Classic is a 2.2-litre diesel engine, which offers 130bhp of peak power and 300Nm of maximum torque. It comes paired with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The feature list of the SUV comprises projector headlights with LED DRLs, a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and AUX connectivity, auto air-conditioning, cruise control, dual front airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, and more. As mentioned, the SUV can be had in two variants: the S and the S11. The Scorpio S has a 7- and 9-seater option, while the S11 is only available as a 7-seater. There were speculations a while ago about Mahindra introducing a new variant in the Scorpio Classic lineup. A mid-spec version was likely to make its way between the Classic S and the S11 in the range. However, no official confirmation has been made on the same to date. Industry reports reveal that Mahindra will presumably launch the new mid-spec model this year.

In terms of prices, the SUV's cost begins at Rs 12.99 lakh for the Standard version and reaches up to Rs 16.81 lakh for the higher-spec S11 model. Both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. In India, the Scorpio Classic is considered the alternative to models like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Hyundai Creta, the Skoda Kushaq, the MG Astor, and more.
