Maruti Suzuki India has recalled more than 16,000 units of its bestselling hatchbacks—the Baleno and the Wagon R— owing to a potential fault in a part of the fuel pump motor. The recall affects 4,190 units of the Wagon R and 11,851 units of the Baleno, which were manufactured between July 30 and November 1, 2019. The company has stated that a defective fuel pump can lead to problems with the starting or stalling of the engine. To address this issue, the brand's authorised dealer workshops will contact the owners of the affected vehicles and provide a free replacement of the defective part. The Baleno and the Wagon R are both popular Maruti Suzuki models sold in India. As of February 2024, the year-on-year sales of the Wagon R increased by 15% compared to the previous year, with 19,412 units sold. On the other hand, the Baleno ranked as India's third best-selling vehicle last month, with a total of 17,517 units sold. Let's know more about these two popular Maruti Suzuki hatchbacks in detail.
