Mercedes-Benz India has had its strongest year yet in the country, clocking 19,363 retail sales in FY2025-26 and setting a new all-time record for the brand here. That is a 2.3 per cent rise over last year’s 18,928-unit tally, and it shows the three-pointed star still has serious momentum in India’s luxury car space. The company also carried that pace into the opening quarter of 2026, posting 5,131 sales between January and March, up 7 per cent year-on-year. Simply put, buyers continue to line up for everything from executive sedans and SUVs to AMG performance machines and high-end EVs.

Much of that growth came from Mercedes-Benz’s top-end luxury models, and honestly, that is where the real action is. Cars like the S-Class, Maybach range and AMG models helped this segment grow 16 per cent in FY26, accounting for 27 per cent of the brand’s total sales. Demand remains so strong that waiting periods for the AMG G 63 and Maybach S-Class currently stretch from four months to as much as a year.
The brand’s bread-and-butter models also continued to deliver solid numbers. The C-Class, E-Class, GLC and GLE remained key contributors, with the long-wheelbase E-Class once again holding its spot as India’s highest-selling luxury sedan. At the same time, entry-level luxury offerings saw sales drop 18 per cent, reflecting Mercedes-Benz India’s strategy of prioritising premium positioning over chasing volume at the lower end.

Mercedes-Benz’s electric vehicle push is also starting to gather pace. EVs accounted for 20 per cent of top-end luxury sales during FY26, showing that buyers in this bracket are warming up to battery-powered luxury. Demand for models priced above Rs 1.4 crore jumped 85 per cent, with the EQS SUV emerging as a major contributor. The upcoming CLA electric sedan, due in April 2026, should only add more momentum to the EV side of the business.

To support future growth, Mercedes-Benz India plans to open more than 20 new outlets across the country in 2026. The expansion will include newer markets such as Visakhapatnam, Varanasi and Goa, while metro hubs like Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru will also see network upgrades. Franchise partners are set to invest over Rs 450 crore in the next two years, while the company continues to widen its AMG range with additions like the AMG A 45 S Aero Track Edition and AMG GLE 53 Coupe Performance Edition.
