Maruti Suzuki Fronx Long Term Review, November 2023 Report

Once it was time to go back home, it meant going back to the trusty Fronx and I have to say, it was rather homely, surprisingly. It felt like coming home after a long vacation.

As you would have noticed by the sheer size of this issue of our magazine, we had a lot of work to do in the month that went by. All of it for good reason, of course, it was our anniversary month and that means it was the time to do our annual mega test. What you see through the pages of this issue is the result of all the testing that our esteemed jury do and since I was part of both, the motorcycle and car jury, there was a lot on the plate. No complaints, though, as what was required of me during these days was to test, experience, critique and rate the contenders vying for the Best of 2023. Arguably, a strong combination of a childhood dream and a critique’s nightmare because, ranking the best amongst the best is harder than may seem. Anyway, I digress.

Coming to why I mentioned all of it in the first place. You see, this year, we had about 30 cars show up and compete for the top spots. So at the end of the day, there are a lot of keys to choose from for the ride to the hotel and back to the track next morning. I’ll be honest, with the lucrative lineup of cars, I ended up getting my hands on a couple of them that were about 10 times more expensive and at least twice the size than the Fronx. Partly because they would act as a practical option to ferry crew or equipment around if needed and mostly because I could use this as an excuse to drive these big, burly cars. However, once it was time to go back home, it meant going back to the trusty Fronx and I have to say, it was rather homely, surprisingly. It felt like coming home after a long vacation. Sure, the scenery was nice, but home is where the heart is.
