Bajaj Avenger Street 160 Highlights
The Avenger Street 160 replaces the Avenger Street 180 in order to accommodate single-channel ABS as per the mandatory safety norms. Therefore, the new Avenger ditches the 180cc powertrain for a lower displacement 160cc motor. Why the reduction in displacement? It makes sense considering that equipping the 180cc motor with ABS would have resulted in a price hike making it recklessly close to the Avenger 220 ABS. Spare the badging and the Street 160 looks very identical to the Street 180 it replaces, the minimal use of chrome, analogue speedometer, an elongated tank, the headlamp assembly with the LED DRL and the overall laid back design are reminiscent of the older bike.
Exterior Details
The Avenger Street 160 stays true to the overall laid back cruiser design of its predecessor. In fact, it borrows all of its dimensional details from its predecessor, measuring in at 2,210mm of length, 806mm of width and 1,070mm of height. The fuel tank has a capacity of 13-litres. Moreover, the Avenger Street 160 has a ground clearance of 177mm and a kerb weight of 150kg.
Engine & Transmission
The Bajaj Avenger Street 160 features a 160cc air-cooled mill that churns out 14.8bhp of power and 13.5Nm of torque. The air-cooled motor feels at home doing urban speeds and it’s only when you cross the 70-80kmph sweet spot, the bike starts feeling buzzy. The five-speed gearbox is well-calibrated and the clutch is also light. As per the company, the Bajaj Avenger Street 160 mileage is 48km/l.
Handling
The Bajaj Avenger Street 160 felt at home slipping through traffic at low speeds. The suspension setup with telescopic forks at the front and twin shocks at the rear absorb potholes and rides over bumps with ease. The bike is based on a tubular double cradle chassis and it rides on 90/70x17 profile rubber up front and 130/90x15 profile rubber at the back. The stopping power comes from a 260mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the back.
Features
The Bajaj Avenger Street 160 new model comes equipped with single-channel ABS to keep up with the mandatory safety norms. As for the electricals, it gets a halogen headlamp with an embedded LED DRL and an LED taillamp. The instrument cluster comprises an analogue fuel gauge and an analogue speedometer paired to a mini digital display for the odometer and trips data.
