In terms of changes, the latest Hero Xtreme 160R could receive upside-down forks at the front, rather than telescopic forks. While the bike's rear end could potentially carry over the same preload-adjustable mono-shock set-up from the 2022 version.

Hero Xtreme 160R NEW

The Hero Xtreme 160R was launched in July 2020 in the country, and since then, the motorcycle has seen upgrades in the form of a few design changes and additional features. And now, the Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to launch the updated Xtreme 160R for the model year 2023 in the Indian market. The launch is expected in a few weeks' time (sometime during July or August) if we go by industry reports. The latest spy images of the 2023 Xtreme 160R reveal that the refreshed model would be suspended with the help of upside-down front forks and would get a revised instrument cluster. Built around a tubular diamond frame, the 2023 model's kerb weight could go up to around 138 kilograms, making it one of the lightest bikes in the 160cc segment. Meanwhile, the mechanicals will likely be retained from the outgoing model.

2023 Hero Xtreme 160R: Price, Competition

In the Indian market, the 2023 Hero Xtreme 160R is likely to sell for a marginally higher price than the existing model, which is currently priced between Rs 1.17 lakh and Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model is expected to demand a premium of around Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 over the 2022 model. Once launched, the new Xtreme 160R will go up against the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.

2023 Hero Xtreme 160R: Expected Changes

In terms of changes, the latest Hero Xtreme 160R could receive upside-down forks at the front instead of telescopic forks. The rear end, however, is likely to continue with the same preload-adjustable monoshock setup of the 2022 version. In terms of braking, the motorcycle will be equipped with disc brakes at both ends. Further, it is speculated that the 2023 iteration will get a single-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system) with an optional rear disc brake.

In addition, the refreshed model is likely to feature an updated digital instrument cluster with connected technology, such as a negative LCD. Style-wise, the bike could come with LED headlights and taillights, LED turn indicators, a high-set handlebar, a side-mounted exhaust, a muscular tank, a stepped-up seat, 17-inch blacked-out wheels, a gear position indicator, and a hazard light function. Two new dual-tone colour options are also likely on the cards.
