BMW Vision CE Concept

BMW Motorrad has shown the Vision CE electric scooter concept at the IAA Mobility 2025 event. It comes with a protective metal cage and a seatbelt, reducing the need for a helmet during most city rides. By combining car-like safety features with the compact size of a scooter, BMW aims to make urban commuting safer and simpler. The Vision CE uses the same platform as the BMW CE 04 electric scooter, keeping its 41bhp motor and around 100-kilometre range. A new self-balancing system helps the scooter stay upright when stopped, which could make riding in traffic easier. Optional features like windshields, extra storage, or even a roof for weather protection could make the scooter more practical for daily use.

The design is straightforward and functional, with a long wheelbase and low stance for better stability. The protective cage uses a seatbelt to secure the rider, reducing reliance on helmets and heavy riding gear.

BMW is also looking into adding a roof to the Vision CE, offering protection from rain or strong sunlight. Padded sections in the safety cage help absorb impact during accidents, aiming to raise safety standards for urban electric scooters.

The riding posture is designed for balance and control. Combined with the self-balancing system and safety cage, the scooter blends motorcycle agility with car-like safety.

Though still a concept, the BMW Vision CE shows the company’s focus on the future of urban electric mobility. By making scooters safer and easier to use, BMW hopes to encourage more people to switch to electric two-wheelers. As cities become more crowded, such solutions could play a key role in everyday commuting.
