Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) will begin its EV journey in India with an electric scooter, which is likely to be launched next year. Electric two-wheelers are becoming popular in India due to their convenience, affordability, and environmental friendliness. Manufacturers such as Hero Electric, Ampere, Okinawa, Ather Energy, Revolt Motors, and others are leading the way in the electric two-wheeler segment in our market. Electric scooters are cheaper to maintain than their traditional petrol-powered counterparts. With a popular brand like Honda introducing its electric scooter in the Indian market, chances are that demand for these eco-friendly commuters will further increase. Let's have a quick glance at the recent updates regarding the expected Honda electric scooter.

Honda Activa Electric Scooter: What do we know so far?

At the launch event of the Activa H-Smart, the company revealed that it will probably launch its first electric scooter by March 2024. The firm will announce its EV plans on March 29. Industry reports suggest that it might disclose some information about its future EV. There is no official confirmation, but we expect that Honda might showcase a prototype model of the electric scooter while revealing its EV plans. Honda has already stated that its long-term goal is to have vehicles with removable batteries supported by a battery-swapping network. The first would be Electric Bikes (EB) with a top speed of 25km/h. The second category will be Electric Mopeds (EM), with a top speed of about 50km/h, and the third segment will have electric Vehicles (EVs) with a top speed of more than 50km/h.
