The parallel-twin Honda CB500X will make its way to the Indian market via the CKD route, and its prices will start at Rs. 6.87 lakh (ex-showroom, Gurugram).

Surprising us all again, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has quietly launched its compact entry-level adventure motorcycle in the country. The widely popular parallel-twin ADV is a part of Honda's strategy to bring in a range of enthusiast motorcycles to the country. The CB500X will be brought to India as a CKD and will be priced at Rs 6.87 lakh (ex-showroom).

The CB500X takes inspiration from the bigger Africa Twin ADV and has an aggressive stance and design. The bike is built around a diamond-shaped steel-tube mainframe and a compact parallel-twin 471cc liquid-cooled engine is mounted inside. The engine can pump out 47bhp @ 8,500rpm and 43.2Nm @ 6,500rpm of torque. On paper, it will be the perfect beginner ADV for riders looking to get into the world of big bikes. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission and gets Assist/Slipper Clutch. The Benelli TRK 502 has similar engine specifications and it costs almost Rs1 lakh less than the Honda CB500X.

The CB50X also sports long-stroke 41mm front suspension and Honda Pro-Link rear suspension, with 9-stage spring preload adjustment. Other features include ESS (Emergency Stop Signal), Honda Ignition Security System (HISS), Dual Channel ABS, and LCD display. The CB500X also comes with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear multi-spoke cast-aluminium wheels, which means that this bike is better suited for tarmac riding and is not an off-road focused machine.

The CB500X will also come in two colours – Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. Bookings for the bike are open from today at Honda’s premium big bike dealerships – BigWing Topline & BigWing – across India.

Announcing the opening of bookings for CB500X from today, Mr Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Director – Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd., said, 'Driven by the passion of fun riders in India and further strengthening our offerings in the mid-size premium motorcycle segment, CB500X will entice adventure enthusiasts who believe in exploring unconventional trails. This machine serves as a companion for city rides and is a beast on unravelled paths. The parallel twin-cylinder engine offers easy-to-access power and plenty of torque. Together with tough adventure styling, long-travel suspension, a tall windscreen and more, the CB500X invites you to "Live Unlike the Others".'
