Kawasaki recalls the 2024–25 Ninja ZX-6R globally due to a crankshaft bolt defect that may cause engine seizure. Riders are advised to stop using until repairs are done.

Kawasaki has issued a recall for certain 2024 and 2025 Ninja ZX-6R motorcycles. This step is being taken due to an issue found in the engine. The problem involves crankshaft bolts that may have been tightened more than necessary during the manufacturing process. This can affect how the engine functions and may create safety risks for riders. The issue with the over-torqued bolts is that it can reduce the gap needed for oil flow around the crankshaft bearing. If this happens, the bearing can wear out or fail. In some cases, the engine could seize suddenly while the motorcycle is in use. This may lead to a loss of control or mechanical failure.

The recall includes several variants of the Ninja ZX-6R, such as the KRT Edition and the 40th Anniversary model. Similar recalls are expected to be issued in Europe and the United Kingdom. Kawasaki has asked owners in these regions to stop riding their motorcycles until they can be checked and repaired by authorised service centres.

Kawasaki will directly contact owners whose bikes are part of the recall. The company has said that technicians will inspect the crankshaft bolts and replace them if needed. These inspections and repairs will be done at no cost to the customer.
