Bikes are a popular means of transportation for daily commuters in India. These two-wheelers are less expensive, easier to maintain, and more fuel-efficient than four-wheelers. The two-wheeler segment accounts for a sizable portion of the automobile market in India. According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), the 2Ws recorded retail sales of 14,39,523 units in February 2024. This represented a 13.25% increase year-on-year from the 12,71,073 units sold in February 2023. Many firms, like TVS, Honda, and Bajaj, provide a variety of options in this two-wheeler space to meet the diverse needs of customers. If you want to buy a bike at an affordable price, here are some options to consider.

Hero HF 100

The 97cc motorcycle from Hero MotoCorp is available in India at a starting price of Rs 59,018 (ex-showroom). The bike comes in a single variant and two different colours - red-black and blue-black. The Hero HF 100 weighs 109 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 9.1 litres. It is equipped with a 97.2cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that generates 7.9bhp and 8.05Nm torque with a 4-speed manual gearbox. The motorcycle is claimed to have a fuel efficiency of approximately 70km/l. The suspension is handled by telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers in the front and a swingarm with 2-step adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers in the back.

The Hero HF Deluxe ranges in price from Rs 59,998 to Rs 68,768, depending on the model (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The weight of the bike stands at 110 kg for the kickstart version and 112 kg for the self-start variant. It has an 805mm seat height and a 9.6-litre fuel tank. The Hero HF Deluxe runs on an OBD2-compliant 97.2cc single-cylinder engine that produces 7.9bhp and 8.05Nm at 8000rpm and 6000rpm, respectively. There is a 4-speed gearbox attached to the motor. 

The bike comes in four different variants and five colour schemes. It features an analog instrument cluster that displays the speedometer, odometer, and fuel gauge. The motorcycle has several noteworthy features, including an Idle Stop-Start System (i3S), a side stand engine cut-off, and an engine cut-off at fall function. A USB charger is also available as an optional accessory. It is important to note that the feature list may vary depending on the model.

TVS Sport

The TVS Sport, which starts at Rs 59,431 (ex-showroom, Delhi), is one of the most affordable bikes on the Indian market. There are two versions available for the bike: Self Start ELS and Self Start ES. The former (Self Start ELS) comes in three dual and one single-tone paint schemes, including Black Blue, Black Red, White Purple, and Metallic Blue (single-tone), whereas the latter (Self Start ES) is offered in three single-tone hues, such as All Black, All Red, and All Grey.

The TVS Sport's mechanical setup consists of a 109.7cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder, BS6-compliant engine that generates 8.07bhp at 7350rpm and 8.7Nm at 4500rpm and a 4-speed gearbox. The bike boasts a 10-litre fuel tank and 175mm of ground clearance. It incorporates a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers with a five-step pre-load adjustment system for suspension.

The Honda Shine 100 carries a price tag of Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom). It comes in a single variant and five colour options: Black with Red, Black with Gold, Black with Blue, Black with Green, and Black with Grey. The Honda bike has a 98.98cc BS6 engine that provides 7.28bhp and 8.05Nm of performance numbers. It uses a four-speed transmission. The Shine 100 comes with a telescopic fork and dual coil springs in the back that cannot be adjusted for preload. It offers a large wheelbase (1245mm) and high ground clearance (168mm). The features list comprises a twin-pod instrument console with a speedometer, odometer, and fuel level readout.

The price of the Bajaj Platina 100 in our market is Rs 67,808 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Along with an analog instrument cluster, the bike comes in four distinct colour options: Black & Red, Black & Silver, Black & Gold, and Black & Blue. The Bajaj Platina 100 has an 11-litre fuel tank and a weight of 117 kg. It is propelled by a 102cc BS6 engine, which produces a peak power of 7.79bhp and a maximum torque of 8.3Nm. The motor includes a four-speed manual gearbox. The Bajaj bike is equipped with a tubular single-cradle frame, a telescopic front fork, and twin rear shocks. The vehicle has a ground clearance of 200mm and a seat height of 807mm.
