Simple Dot One

Simple Energy, a Bengaluru-based EV startup, has launched its new electric scooter in the Indian market, dubbed the Dot One. Priced at Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom) exclusively for Bengaluru customers who had pre-booked the two-wheeler, the Simple Dot One is much more affordable than the Simple One (Rs 1.58 lakh as per the company's website). However, the price is introductory and is valid until stocks last. For those looking to buy the scooter, the company has opened the booking window for the scooter, with the launch price for subsequent customers to be announced in January next year.

Simple Energy Dot One: Battery, Range, Top Speed

As expected, the new Dot One scooter comes with a fixed 3.7kWh battery pack that sends power to an 8.5kW electric motor, yielding a certified range of 151 kilometres and an IDC range of 160 kilometres. Power and torque figures are rated at 11bhp and 72Nm, respectively. The top speed, meanwhile, is marked at 105km/h – the same as the Simple One.

The scooter's battery can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in 3 hours and 47 minutes at home. It also comes with a rapid charger that can charge the scooter up to 80 per cent at a rate of 1.5km per minute. In comparison, a 5kWh battery pack powers the Simple One, enabling the electric scooter to provide an IDC-claimed range of up to 212 kilometres on a full charge.

Simple Energy Dot One: Suspension, Brakes

In terms of suspension, the Dot One features a telescopic fork at the front and a mono-shock at the rear, while braking duties are handled by disc brakes. These discs come mounted on 12-inch alloy wheels clothed in newly designed tubeless tyres.

Simple Energy Dot One: Features

Based on the same platform as its sibling, the Simple Dot One gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, all-LED illumination, 35-litre under-seat storage, CBS, as well as four ride modes: Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic. Other key highlights include a 796mm seat height, a 1,335mm wheelbase, and a 126kg kerb weight.
