For a range of automakers, mid-size SUVs are the new market hits. While the majority of manufacturers are already successful in this market, others want to take part and record profits. Japan has added another name to the list. Indeed, Honda has long been testing its new mid-size SUV in India. Further, the first teaser of the model was released in January of this year, and the company confirmed that the new SUV will be available for purchase by the summer of this year. Several recent industry reports now indicate that the car will be called the Honda Elevate. The new-generation WR-V sold in overseas markets, as well as the CR-V, served as major design influences. For the uninitiated, the all-new Honda midsize SUV will break cover globally on June 6 in India, followed by its roll out in our home market first, then in international markets. Here's everything we know so far about the upcoming offering from Honda Cars India.

2023 Honda Midsize SUV: Styling Elements

Honda concentrated on giving the vehicle a design that was appropriate for its function as a mid-size SUV. The exterior design is certain to draw attention. The new SUV from Honda will have a wheelbase that is long and will measure between 4.2 and 4.3 metres. It has the traditional, boxy SUV appeal due to the broad, flat bonnet and the large, commanding nose. The Honda Elevate's aggressive appearance is further enhanced by the front grille's chrome accents, the LED headlights, and the powerful wheel arches. With thin headlamps on either side of them, LED DRLs adopt a thin, whisker-like design. The sporty appearance is a result of the relatively flat roof with roof rails.

Dual-tone alloy wheels, most likely measuring 17 inches, will be on the sides of this Creta-rivalling vehicle. A quarter-glass will fill a sizable portion of the glass area. Wraparound taillights will be installed on the SUV's rear section, and the licence plate will be mounted on the boot lid. It's likely that the bumper will have a dual-tone finish and a silver skid plate. The length and width of the new Honda Elevate will both be covered in the black cladding as well.

The new 1.5-litre Honda twin-cam petrol engine, which also powers the City sedan, will propell the Honda Elevate SUV. However, the 1.5-litre petrol will likely be the only engine available at launch; a strong-hybrid lineup will follow a little later. The 1.5-petrol CVT and 6-speed manual transmissions that are currently offered on the City are most likely available as transmission choices. A diesel unit won't be offered.
