The launch of the X5 M Competition makes it two M model launches from BMW India in a month! It also becomes the most powerful BMW SUV currently on sale in India.

The start of the month was marked by the launch of the mighty V6-powered X3 M. And now, BMW India has brought the ferociously quick and uber-expensive X5 M Competition to our shores. Like the X3 M, the X5 M Competition goes on sale as a CBU, at an eye-watering ex-showroom price of ₹1.95 crores!

Being a CBU, customers have the option of ordering their X5 M Competition in any of the seven standard metallic colour choices – Carbon Black, Black Sapphire, Mineral White, Marina Bay Blue, Donnington Grey, Manhattan Green and Tornado Red. Two BMW Individual colour options (Tanzanite Blue and Ametrine) are also available. While the upholstery has been finished in Black Extended Merino Leather as standard, there are a few more additional options available.

All BMW X5 M Competition buyers will gain membership to the BMW Excellence Club, and those who book the car (online only) before 31st December 2020 will also be entitled to an exclusive hospitality experience, designed by the BMW Excellence Club, in association with Isprava luxury villas.

Powering the track-worthy X5 M Competition is the same 4.4-litre M TwinPower Turbo V8 that also powers the M5 sedan and the M8 Coupé. In Competition spec, the twin-turbo V8 develops a colossal 617bhp (@6,000rpm) and 750Nm of torque, between 1,800 – 5,600rpm. This makes it the most powerful BMW SUV currently on sale in India. In fact, thanks to the Competition Pack, it's also more powerful than the M8!

An eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission channels power to all four wheels via BMW's M xDrive all-wheel-drive system and Active M Differential. Therefore, the X5 M Competition can zip past the 100km/h mark from a standstill in just 3.8 seconds! The top-speed remains capped at 250km/h. It rides on 21-inch M light-alloy wheels at the front and 22-inch units at the rear.

Apart from the Active M Differential and M xDrive AWD, the M package on the X5 M Competition also includes Adaptive M Suspension Professional (with electronically-controlled dampers), M-specific Servotronic steering, an M Sport Exhaust and M Compound brakes. The Competition Pack accounts for the bump in power, M Seat Belts and the rear 'Competition' badging. Besides, the driver also has the option of toggling among three 'shift' modes – Track Sport & Road. Even the brake pedal feel can be adjusted via two independent modes (Comfort & Sport).
