The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the company's flagship SUV, has been recently launched in a new S-CNG variant to capitalise on the rising popularity of CNG-powered vehicles. The SUV's CNG edition is now available in two trims, the Delta and the Zeta. While the Grand Vitara CNG's Delta variant has a price tag of Rs 12.85 lakh, its Zeta variant is being offered for Rs 14.84 lakh. Additionally, a 5-speed manual gearbox is standard on both the Delta and Zeta versions of the SUV. Maruti Suzuki says that the Grand Vitara S-CNG can achieve certified fuel efficiency of up to 26.6 km/kg by utilising the company's smart CNG technology. The Grand Vitara is Maruti Suzuki India's 14th model overall and the third Nexa vehicle to have a CNG option. The Grand Vitara S-CNG is also available through Maruti Suzuki Subscribe, with monthly subscription fees starting at Rs 30,723.

The 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated K15C petrol engine, which is currently offered in the pure-petrol models of the SUV, serves as the foundation for the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG's powertrain. The engine in this instance, which runs on CNG, has a maximum power output of 87bhp at 5500rpm and a maximum torque output of 121.5Nm at 4200rpm. However, in pure-petrol mode, the engine produces 99bhp of maximum power and 136Nm of maximum torque, which is around 2.5bhp less than the Grand Vitara's petrol-powered counterpart.

A maximum fuel economy of 26.6km/kg of CNG, according to Maruti Suzuki, puts it on par with the strong-hybrid model in terms of efficiency. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is now offered in three versions - pure petrol, strong petrol hybrid, and CNG, thanks to the addition of the CNG-powered model. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG, which will have the same powertrain as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG is anticipated to be officially unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023.

The Grand Vitara was launched with a pair of 1.5-litre strong hybrid and 1.5-litre mild hybrid petrol engines at the time of its launch in September last year. And now, the company has expanded the lineup with a CNG version. The Grand Vitara S-CNG models will have the same features as the Delta and Zeta versions of the standard petrol car. Therefore, the Zeta trim with the better specification will come with features like six airbags, a SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an integrated Next Gen Suzuki Connect with more than 40 connected capabilities.
