BMW Group India to Launch 19 New Models in 2024, Following Highest-ever Annual Sales in 2023

BMW Group India tripled its growth to become the top seller in the luxury electric vehicle market. In the previous year, the brand sold 1,474 units in total. In India, the BMW iX continues to be the most popular premium electric car.

BMW Group India retained its leading position in the luxury electric car market, according to the recent announcement of its yearly sales figures for all three of its brands: BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad. BMW cars recorded sales of 13,303 units in last year, representing a year-over-year (YoY) growth of 18 per cent. The flagship models, which included the 7 Series sedan, i7, X7, and iX, were mostly responsible for the enormous 88 per cent increase over the prior year. Sport utility vehicles (SUVs), called sport activity vehicles (SAVs) by BMW, accounted for 54 per cent of total sales, while sedans accounted for 46 per cent. The sales figures for all three brands reached their highest point in the fourth quarter of 2023. With 2,633 units sold, the BMW X1 was the company's best-selling SUV in 2023. The BMW X7 came in second with 1,513 units. In the sedan category, the 3 Series occupied the top spot with 2,702 units. In 2024, the manufacturer plans to introduce 19 new vehicles in the country, comprising 13 cars and 6 motorcycles, after a record-breaking year.

BMW Electric Car Sales

BMW has witnessed significant growth in the luxury electric vehicle market, tripling its sales to become the segment leader. The company sold a total of 1,474 units in the previous year. In India, the BMW iX continues to be the most popular premium electric car. Apart from the iX, BMW offers three other EV models – the i4, the newly released iX1, and the i7. Additionally, the group also markets the MINI Cooper SE, which, according to BMW, is the best-selling luxury electrified hatchback in the nation.

MINI India Sales

In India, MINI sold 869 cars in 2023, registering a 22 per cent rise in sales. With a 55 per cent market share, the locally made MINI Countryman was the most popular model. Apart from this, the electric MINI 3-Door Cooper SE saw a more than twofold increase in sales, rising to the position of second-best-selling MINI vehicle, with a 28 per cent market share.

BMW's two-wheeler division saw a 20 per cent increase in sales in the country last year, with 8,768 units sold. The G 310 entry-level models saw a notable 19 per cent rise and held an 88 per cent market share in total sales. The number of bikes sold as fully assembled units increased by 33 per cent. Meanwhile, the flagship GS adventure and RR sports categories saw the largest rise for CBU models.
