Maruti Suzuki Fronx Clocks 2 Lakh Unit Sales Milestone in India
With this, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx surpasses the Grand Vitara by five months, to emerge as the fastest Nexa SUV to reach the 2 lakh sales milestone.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx has crossed the 2 lakh-unit wholesale mark in India. Launched in April last year and sold through the company’s premium Nexa dealerships, this compact SUV, based on the Baleno, achieved 1 lakh units in just 10 months. It hit 1.50 lakh units in 14 months and reached the 2 lakh milestone within 17 months. Maruti Suzuki sold over 1.34 lakh Fronx units in FY2024, averaging 11,228 units per month, during its first years of sales, according to SIAM's wholesale data. In the ongoing fiscal year, from April to August 2024, the SUV has recorded sales of 59,967 units, marking a 15 per cent year-on-year (YoY) growth. This averages to 11,993 units per month or nearly 400 units per day. With this, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx surpasses the Grand Vitara by five months, to emerge as the fastest Nexa SUV to reach the 2 lakh sales milestone.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Powertrain Options
Coming to the mechanical side of things, the SUV has two petrol engine options: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated (NA) unit and a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo unit. The latter puts out 99bhp of maximum power and 147.6Nm of peak torque, while the former mill develops 89bhp of peak power and 113Nm of torque. The Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine can be paired with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. On the other hand, the NA unit is available with a five-speed manual transmission or an automatic manual transmission.

In terms of features, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is packed with an extensive array of amenities, including an auto-leveling driver's seat, auto-dimming IRVM, wireless charging, a multi-functional steering wheel, and a HUD display. It also offers rear AC vents, automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, cruise control, and automatic LED headlights with DRLs. For safety, it includes ESP with Hill Hold Assist and Rollover Mitigation, ISOFIX child seat anchors, ABS with EBD, and up to six airbags.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Competition Check
The exterior colour options for the Fronx include Arctic White, Earthen Brown, Opulent Red, Splendid Silver, Bluish Black, Celestial Blue, and Grandeur Grey. The price of the SUV starts at Rs 7.51 lakh and goes up to Rs 13.04 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom figures. When it comes to market competition, the Fronx locks horns with the likes of the Kia Sonet, the Hyundai Venue, the Tata Nexon, the Toyota Taisor, the Nissan Magnite, the Mahindra XUV 3XO, and the Renault Kiger.
