Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres launched in India
French tyre manufacturer, Michelin, has officially introduced the Pilot Sport 4 range of tyres in India. The highlight of this new tyre range is that it’s targeted towards premium and high performance cars.

French tyre manufacturer, Michelin, has officially introduced the Pilot Sport 4 range of tyres in India. The highlight of this new tyre range is that it’s targeted towards premium and high performance cars.
These tyres are available in three wheel sizes - R16 through R18, and can be had in a total of eight varying specifications. The Pilot Sport 4s have a wheel rim protector which protects the sidewall and wheel from kerbing damage. According to Michelin - the tyres use FIA Formula E based tread design and tread compounds to ensure superior grip in dry conditions on straight highways as well as cornering roads.
In addition to the tread compounding effect, wide and deep longitudinal grooves provide efficient drainage on wet roads, leading to superior wet safety. The Pilot Sport 4s also feature a strong casing which works as the skeleton of the tyre - which Michelin says makes these well suited for Indian roads.
Mohan Kumar, Executive Vice President, Michelin India said, “Michelin Pilot Sport 4 is designed to give premium and sports car motorists the pleasure of driving without compromising on performance, safety and longevity. The technological innovations in the ultra-responsive tread of this tyre come from Michelin Group’s longstanding experience of innovating for motor racing, most recently for Formula E and our in-depth expertise of dynamic interactions between the architecture, tread pattern, and materials that ensure optimal management of the contact patch with the road”.
The price range of Pilot Sport 4 tyres is yet to be revealed. Recently, domestic tyre maker - MRF, also launched a new range taylored for premium and luxury vehicles - called Perfinza.
