In the upcoming 2024 Formula 1 season, Logan Sargeant is set to continue his journey with the Williams team, ensuring that the entire Grand Prix grid remains unchanged for the next year. Williams has decided to keep Sargeant on board despite his rocky debut season, which was characterised by both achievements and failures. Sargeant's performance, which included securing one critical point, was instrumental in the decision.

With the help of teammate Albon's 27 points and Sargeant's one point, Williams climbed from last place in the Formula 1 constructors' standings to an impressive seventh place in 2023. Sargeant was vital to the team's success, and this accomplishment shows that.

Prior to his debut in Formula 1, Sargeant won races in Formula 4, Formula 3, and Formula 2, where he finished in a respectable fourth place in 2022. Those three drivers—Felipe Drugovich of Aston Martin, Sauber's Theo Pourchaire, and Liam Lawson of Red Bull—were ahead of him in the standings.

In their official statement, Williams underscored Sargeant's demonstration of the vital speed necessary for excelling at the highest echelons of the sport, noting his continuous refinement of foundational skills with each passing race.

Team principal James Vowles stated: “I am pleased to continue our journey with Logan into the 2024 season. Logan has demonstrated immense skill whilst under the pressure of the world stage, making him a perfect fit for our team. We have great confidence in his abilities and believe that together we can achieve even greater success in the upcoming season."

Logan shared following the announcement: "I am thrilled to be continuing with Williams Racing for the 2024 season. It has been an incredible journey with the team so far, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue developing as a driver within such a talented and dedicated group. We have exciting plans for the future, and I can't wait to contribute to the team's success in the coming year."

By keeping Sargeant, they have a driver who will know the team well and, with a good pre-season, should be in good shape to make the most of the new car – when there may well be some low-hanging fruit and thus the chance for some valuable points – in the early races.

Sargeant reached a major milestone by earning his first Formula 1 point at the United States Grand Prix in October, even though he was often beaten by Albon, losing 22-0 in the Williams qualifying head-to-head. He became the first American to accomplish this in Formula 1 in 30 years with this victory. As a whole, the young driver was improving, which was something that Vowles praised.

The 2024 grid is now full after Williams finalised their lineup. With the exception of Daniel Ricciardo, the lineup has not changed from the 20 drivers who began the 2023 season at the Bahrain Grand Prix. He replaced Nyck de Vries as AlphaTauri's seatholder in the middle of the season.
