Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled Highlights
The Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled is the Italian automaker's take on an off-road-ready Ducati Scrambler. To keep up with its off-the-tarmac goals, Ducati has equipped the Scrambler Desert Sled appropriately. The Scrambler Desert Sled pays homage to the off-road motorcycles of the 70s and 80s that were basically road bikes equipped to ride off the road. Similarly, the Desert Sled feature's the road specced Scrambler's powertrain, with a design and mechanical upgrades for hitting the trails. What's more, the Desert Sled is now updated for BS6 emission norms. Read on to find out what the Ducati Scrambler's off-road sibling, the Desert Sled, is all about.
Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled Exterior Details
The Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled is based on its Icon variant. However, it gets a significant list of changes over the street model. Most noticeably, the bike gets dual-sport tyres and taller suspension components. The bike also gets wire-spoked wheels to keep up with its off-road avatar. For its latest BS6 variant, the Desert Sled gets equipped with a new seat and a mesh headlight grille. The bike also gets a new paint scheme.
Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled Engine & Transmission
Powering the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled is the same 803cc, air-cooled Desmodromic L-Twin engine putting down 73PS at 8250rpm and 66.2 Nm of peak torque at 5750rpm, as is in the base, road-going Scrambler variant. This engine is supported by a six-speed manual transmission.
Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled Handling
For handling duties, the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled varies from its siblings. The Desert Sled gets 46mm Kayaba USD suspension on the front with additional travel, giving it a taller stance. On the rear, the bike hits the trails on a preload-adjustable Kayaba mono-shock suspension. Stopping power is provided by a 330mm single disc at the front and a 245mm single rotor at the rear. The bike gets cornering ABS for safety.
Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled Features
The Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled gets features appropriate to its off-road sensibilities and then some. New changes on the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled include a mesh headlight grille and golden rims. The Desert Sled gets a 19- inch front rim to keep up with its off-road purposes. Other differences in the off-road spec Scrambler includes an off-road style front fender, cross-section handlebars, and Pirelli Scorpion Rally dual-purpose tyres. The bike also gets a TFT display compatible with Ducati's optional Multimedia System.
