Ford EcoSport [2017-2019] News - Stay updated with the latest news on Ford EcoSport [2017-2019].

Ford India has issued a recall for the Ecosport which were manufactured between May and June 2017.

A voluntary recall for 4,379 Ecosport vehicles by Ford India. The company has stated that they are inspecting vehicles which were manufactured at their facility in Chennai between May and June 2017.

Ford India officially stated ‘The voluntary inspections are in line with the company’s commitment to deliver world-class quality vehicles to its customers.’

The manufacturer is inspecting the integrity of the welds of the front lower control arm of the cars. Ford India has said that ‘The weld strength on some of these vehicles may be below Ford specifications, which in rare cases, can potentially affect steering control.’

Additionally, Ford is also recalling another 1,018 Ecosport models built between November and December 2017 to inspect the locking mechanism of the recliners of the driver and front passenger seats.

Ford dealers in India will be contacting the respective owners of the affected vehicles to carry out the inspections and replace the components if necessary at no cost to the owner.

The Ecosport is one of Ford’s most popular cars in India with over 5,000 vehicles sold in the month of May 2018. The Ecosport comes equipped with a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine, and the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder TDCI turbo diesel engine. Additionally, Ford recently also introduced the Ecosport S which in its petrol form comes equipped with the Ecoboost 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine as well.

The EcoBoost returns with the new Ford EcoSport S along with a new gearbox and a sunroof.

Ford India has now revived the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol, EcoBoost engine with the launch of the EcoSport S with a sunroof. Additionally, Ford has also introduced the EcoSport Signature Edition that will be offered for a limited duration as an optional package.

The EcoSport S will be offered with the 123bhp and 170Nm of torque generating EcoBoost petrol option or a 1.5-litre, 98bhp, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine. While the diesel option will continue with the 5-speed manual gearbox, the EcoBoost has dropped its old 5-speed for a brand new 6-speed manual transmission.

Aesthetic and feature updates on the EcoSport S include new smoked HID headlamps with dark inserts with blacked out fog lamps, a blacked out front grille, black painted roof &amp; roof rails and 17-inch smoked alloys. Inside the cabin, the EcoSport S features orange accents on the seats as well as instrument panel bigger 4.2-inch digital information cluster along with the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. Additionally, it will also be equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Ford SYNC 3 and as for safety, it will come as standard with six airbags with ABS and EBD.

Offered for a limited time period, the Signature Edition Ecosport will be offered with the standard 1.5-litre petrol and diesel options featuring a series up visual upgrades. The Signature Edition will get a chrome surround on the front grille, Diamond cut 17-inch alloy wheels, black fog-lamp bezel, a rear spoiler, roof rails and body graphics and a sunroof. The interior upgrades include blue seat contrast-stitching, blue accents on the centre console and instrument panel all of which will be available as an option on the Titanium trim level.

The EcoSport S will be the top of the range trim in the EcoSport line-up and is priced at Rs. 11.37 lakh for the petrol EcoBoost version, while the diesel option will cost Rs 11.99 lakh. The Signature Editions is priced at Rs 10.4 lakh and Rs 10.99 lakh, respectively. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

Ford EcoSport S and Signature Edition with sunroof launched

Ford India has now revived the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol, EcoBoost engine with the launch of the EcoSport S with a sunroof. Additionally, Ford has also introduced the EcoSport Signature Edition that will be offered for a limited duration as an optional package.

Ford India will be rolling out the latest EcoSport with new features and standard safety equipment.

After just five months since it was launched, Ford will be offering some simple safety technology as standard equipment along with some feature updates for the new <a href="https://www.autox.com/reviews/car-reviews/2017-ford-ecosport-facelift-review-first-drive/">EcoSport</a>.

The current EcoSport is offered with a 6.5-inch touchscreen for the midlevel trims, while the top of the line Titanium+ trim is offered with an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Ford SYNC 3.

However, <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/ford/">Ford</a> will soon be replacing the 6.5-inch screen offered in the Trend, Trend+ and Titanium trim levels with a 9-inch screen with inbuilt satellite navigation. However, this system will not get features like CarPlay, Android Auto or even Ford SYNC. The fully loaded 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system will continue to be offered in the Titanium+ trim.

Additionally, Rear Parking Sensor, Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock, Passenger Seat Belt Reminder will become a part of the standard equipment offering with the EcoSport available from the base Ambiente trim. Another change in the equipment offering is that Ford will provide ambient lighting and My Key features exclusively on the top of the line variants only.

While these updates are reflecting on the official Ford website, sources have confirmed that these updated trims will take some time to reach dealerships which will come with new increased prices.

Ford EcoSport gets new feature updates, prices to be hiked

After just five months since it was launched, Ford will be offering some simple safety technology as standard equipment along with some feature updates for the new EcoSport. Ford India will be rolling out the latest EcoSport with new features and standard safety equipment.

Ford officially reveals images and details of the new all-wheel drive EcoSport Storm that is styled to look more rugged. 

As we reported earlier, Ford of Brazil was working on bringing out a more aggressively styled version of the all-wheel drive EcoSport. And its finally out, the company has officially put up details, images and specifications of the new version of its compact SUV.

And like we reported earlier from spy shots, the main highlight of the Storm model is the butch styling that gives it a flared body kit consisting of black plastic cladding that runs all around the lower section of the car along with a faux skid plate up front. This gives the little car a more commanding road presence emphasized further by&nbsp;the bold STORM lettered front grille and flared wheel arches.

The black detailing does not end there for the car, as it also comes with black detailing around the fog lamps, inside the head lamps, over the ORVM casings, roof rails and some black stickering on the bonnet, doors and front aprons.

The interiors of the car get leather seats and steering along with orange inserts around the centre console, under the infotainment screen and on the door pads.

The all-wheel drive Ford EcoSport has been on sale in North America for a while now. And this differently styled Storm model continues to be powered by the same 2.0 litre, four cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that has been doing duty in the AWD model as earlier. In the storm, the engine develops 167bhp of power and 202Nm of torque. The engine continues to be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

And like the standard AWD model, the EcoSport Storm comes with a multi-link rear suspension setup to accommodate the all-wheel drive mechanicals for the torque-on-demand system. Its worth noting that the AWD EcoSport Storm has the same 200mm ground clearance as&nbsp;the standard model.&nbsp;

The Ford EcoSport Storm will be offered in a single top-end variant in Brazil that gives it a rake and reach adjustable steering wheel, height adjustable driver’s seat, an 8-inch infotainment system with Ford’s Sync 3, satellite navigation, reverse camera, automatic head lamps and wipers, cruise control, automatic high beam assist, a sun roof and leather upholstery as mentioned above.

There are no plans for the EcoSport Storm or an AWD EcoSport for India at the moment.

Ford EcoSport Storm revealed

Labelled as the 2018 Ford EcoSport Storm, the compact SUV you see here is closely related to the car we get here in India. Pictures of this new model have been leaked online by Brazilian automotive website <a href="https://www.tracionando.com.br/flagra-ford-ecosport-storm-2018-tracao-4x4/">Tractionando</a>. The Ford EcoSport Storm is differentiated from the standard model not just by cosmetic enhancements, but also by a new powertrain system that powers all four wheels. Although other websites are using terms such as 4x4 and 4WD for the new model, it actually comes with a torque on demand all-wheel drive system. This model has been on sale in North America minus the body kit. It is offered with a&nbsp;2.0-litre petrol developing 173bhp @ 6,500 rpm and 221Nm of torque @ 4,500 rpm. The naturally aspirated petrol engine comes mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Brazilian model you see here comes with cosmetic enhancements to give it a more rugged look to complement its all-wheel drive nature. These enhancements include black plastic cladding around the lower section of the car that gives it bulging wheel arches and a faux skid plate up front. There are black surrounds around the fog lamps and inserts in the head lamps. Other black bits on the car include stickers on the bonnet and Storm stickers on the doors, black casings for the ORVMs, black roof rails and black alloy wheels.

The most prominent exterior change though would have to be that bold front grille with Storm lettered on it. On the inside, the car is expected to remain largely the same, apart from orange inserts as seen here around the centre console, door pads and at the base of the infotainment system.

Another mechanical change worth noting is that the all-wheel drive model gets a fully independent multi-link rear suspension setup, unlike the front-wheel drive model’s semi-independent twist beam axle.

The all-wheel drive Ford EcoSport is not expected in India anytime soon, but it does make for an interesting thought.

Ford has launched the updated EcoSport in compact SUV in India, at a starting price of Rs. 7.31 lakh, which is exactly the same as the outgoing model.

This serves as the first major facelift of&nbsp;the EcoSport in four years since it was first introduced in India. However, this isn’t just a minor nip and tuck job like most facelifts. Alongside a new face, the Ford EcoSport now gets updated interiors, more equipment, and most importantly - a brand new petrol engine &amp; automatic transmission.

The big, Endeavour inspired hexagonal grille flanked by large fog lamps have granted the facelifted EcoSport a lot of character. The interiors, just like the front end, have been substantially updated. There is a refreshed dashboard with an all new centre console, which looks much cleaner compared to the cluttered one on the old&nbsp;model. Trend trim and upwards now feature a floating tablet-style infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Furthermore, the instrument cluster and the steering wheel are all-new as well.

Under the hood of the new EcoSport is a new 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine capable of producing 121bhp of power and 150 Nm of peak torque - which are 10 per cent and 7 per cent better than the outgoing 1.5 petrol engine. The 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox has now made way for a new 6-speed torque converter. With the facelift, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo-petrol engine has been axed from EcoSport’s lineup. The 1.5-litre diesel engine, however, is carried&nbsp;forward unchanged from the pre-facelift version.

The new EcoSport is available in 5 trim levels - Ambiente, Trend, Trend+, Titanium and Titanium+. Safety features like ABS with EBD and dual front airbags are standard on all models, while the top-end Titanium+ also adds side and curtain airbags alongside ISOFIX child seat mounts.

By now you might already know that Ford is going to launch the EcoSport facelift in India on November 9, 2017. Now while the new EcoSport is only a few days away from its market launch, Ford dealers across the country are offering heavy discounts on the current model so as to clear their inventory. As per some dealers, there are discounts ranging between Rs 30,000 and Rs 1 lakh that are being offered at the moment. And if you bargain hard, you might also end up getting free insurance, extended warranty package, accessories, and other goodies.

So, does it make more sense to wait for the new model or buy the current car? If you think about it, it depends on what model you want to buy. For instance, the diesel version of the new EcoSport is mechanically unchanged from the current model. Sure, it gets a new front fascia and lot more goodies&nbsp;like a large touchscreen infotainment system, projector lamps and other creature comforts, but if you can go without all these, it’s not a bad deal to settle with the current car.

On the other hand, the petrol version of the EcoSport now gets a new and more powerful 1.5-litre engine. It comes standard with a five-speed manual gearbox but the automatic version now comes with a torque converter as opposed to the dual clutch transmission of the current model. From what we can tell, the new 1.5-litre motor feels peppier and it's more fuel efficient and&nbsp;refined. So, if you want a petrol, waiting for the new model makes more sense. On the flip side, the current car's award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine has been junked in the new EcoSport, so if you seek more fun and performance from the engine, the EcoBoost is still the engine to go for. Not to mention, now it'll be more affordable to buy than ever before and in the long-run, you'll also have to shell out less money for renewing insurance because of its small capacity engine.

At the end of the day, if you feel the current car – with heavy discounts on offer – makes more sense, then you should check with the dealers in your area at the earliest. But, if you want the new EcoSport, well, you can just wait until November 9 for its prices to come out…

The Ford EcoSport is all set to be rejuvenated in a few days’ time. Although the new EcoSport is just a facelift of the current model, it gets some crucial updates on the inside and out. For instance, there’s an all-new 1.5-litre Dragon petrol engine available with a five-speed manual or a brand new 6-speed automatic gearbox, significant exterior improvements and a slew of new features and equipment in the cabin. Ford will be offering the new EcoSport in five variants, namely – Ambiente, Trend, Trend+, Titanium and Titanium+ – across petrol and diesel variants.  As to what all features and equipment each of these variants packs, here’s the complete list.

Ford shifts Euro-spec EcoSport production from India to Romania

Ford has invested about €200 million in its Romanian plant to upgrade it for EcoSport’s production.

The Euro-spec Ford EcoSport facelift gains an all-new diesel engine.

Ford had previously revealed the facelifted EcoSport for Asian and Latin American markets, and now the American company has revealed the Euro-spec facelift of the compact SUV.

In its Euro-spec avatar, the EcoSport facelift undergoes a major change - that is availability of the ST-Line model, which is powered by an all-new ‘EcoBlue’ diesel engine. This 1.5-litre engine produces 123bhp and 300Nm, and comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Also, for the first time - the EcoSport will gain an AWD system, which will be an option with the EcoBlue diesel.&nbsp;

Ford will continue to offer its famous EcoBoost turbo-petrol in Europe - however, this will also get a less powerful 99bhp version very soon. In addition to the 123bhp version which we get in India, Ford also offers the EcoBoost in a 148bhp avatar in Europe.&nbsp;

Aesthetically, the ST-line gains certain sporty elements over the standard version, such as - Ford Performance inspired bumpers and side skirts, black-finish roof rails and headlight bezels, 17-inch dark tarnish alloy wheels, ST-Line badging and extended painted roof and door mirrors as standard.&nbsp;

The interior, which has been completely redesigned for the facelift, offers a unique ST-Line leather trimmed steering wheel, an ecological suede made from recycled polyester with red stitching, ST-Line branded scuff plates, and stainless steel sports pedals.

The facelifted EcoSport is India bound very soon, and has been <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/ford-ecosport-facelift-spied-testing-undisguised-in-india/">caught testing</a> on multiple occasions. While the new EcoBlue diesel engine is not likely to make it to India, Ford is rumoured to bring in a brand new 1.5-litre petrol alongside the facelift, which will replace the current 1.5 petrol. Also, unlike the international-spec versions, the India-spec <a href="https://www.autox.com/reviews/car-reviews/2017-ford-ecosport-facelift-review-first-drive/">Ford EcoSport</a> facelift will continue to have the tailgate mounted spare wheel. &nbsp;
