Hyundai AX1

Hyundai is all set to introduce its first micro-SUV, codenamed the AX1, in emerging markets like India and Indonesia, amongst others. The micro-SUV will be the Korean automaker’s smallest SUV, which means it will be positioned below the Venue in the brand’s SUV line-up.

Spy shots reveal that the new AX1 will borrow some of its design highlights from the bigger Venue, like the big mesh Cascading grille, and a bumper-mounted headlamp setup. The spy shots also reveal that the AX1 will feature an upright SUV-ish stance and a boxy body shell. Moreover, top-spec variants are also expected to feature diamond-cut six-spoke alloy wheels. On the inside, we expect it to feature class-leading build quality along with some segment-first features.

On that note, the AX1 will compete against the upcoming Tata HBX, Mahindra KUV100, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, et al in the Indian market. We expect it to be positioned between the Santro and Grand i10 Nios in the brand’s product portfolio in terms of pricing.
