<p>Lamborghini has recalled 2,133 units of its popular Urus SUV&nbsp;in the United States.&nbsp;According to a&nbsp;document, the latest recall from the&nbsp;Italian manufacturer is attributed&nbsp;to a defective&nbsp;hood that could fly open when driven quickly.&nbsp;About 2% of the Urus SUV fleet&nbsp;is estimated to have this problem, which causes small gaps to appear between the front bumper and the hood when the model&nbsp;surpasses the speed of&nbsp;151km/h.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website has a recall document from Lamborghini that states that the affected Urus SUVs may have gaps between the hood and front bumper that could widen at high speeds. Over time, this stress could lead to a latch system failure that would separate the hood latch striker from the hood. However, Lamborghini has claimed&nbsp;that it is unaware of any collisions or injuries brought on by the problem.</p>

The company took to Instagram to post a short video of the car with the caption “Performance reaches a new dimension.”</p>

<p>While the caption doesn’t reveal much, we know that it means either a Urus Evo or a Urus PHEV. We have seen both the models during their road tests where the Evo version sported bigger intakes and a roof spoiler. Additionally, the Urus PHEV was also spotted last month which gave us a hint about the badge’s future. There are a few speculations that suggest that the car will borrow its power plant from Porsche, but none of it is confirmed yet.&nbsp;</p>

Upcoming Lamborghini Urus teased ahead of debut - Details here

Lamborghini has teased the upcoming Urus on social media. The car wrapped in disguise was challenging Pikes Peak. While we are not sure of the debut date, speculations suggest that it's either the PHEV or the Evo.

<p><em><strong>The Urus crossed the 100-unit mark only last year in March&nbsp;2021.</strong></em></p>

<p>It seems that the Urus is quite a success in our market, as Lamborghini recently delivered its 200th unit in India. The performance SUV accounts for 50% of the company’s sales in the country, and notably, it took the brand just four years to achieve this milestone.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier this year in March, Lamborghini crossed the 400-unit sales milestone in India since it began its operations in 2007. The Urus made its debut in India in January 2018, and its deliveries began in September of the same year. In March 2021, the company announced that it has sold 100 units of the <a href="https://www.autox.com/suv-cars-in-india/" target="_blank">SUV</a> in India, which means it took just 16 months for the company to sell the next 100 units.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Executives at the helm believe that the reason behind the lopsided figures is the 'carry over demand' caused by the pandemic, which crippled the global automotive market. The same demand was met over the past 16 months. The <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/lamborghini/urus/">Urus </a>has reportedly played an important part in attracting new customers to the Lamborghini brand, given that 80% of Urus buyers are first-time <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/lamborghini/">Lamborghini </a>customers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The company claims that the Urus has also helped it go beyond Tier 1 cities. The car has been purchased in cities including Kanpur, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Daman, Udupi, Shillong, and Guwahati. The average waiting period for Urus is currently between 8 to 12 months.&nbsp;</p>

200th Lamborghini Urus performance SUV delivered in India

The Urus accounts for almost 50% of Lamborghini's sales in the country. It was only in March last year that the company reached the 100-unit mark in India, with the remaining 100  that were sold in just 16 months.

<p><em><strong>Not just a hybrid version, but a performance-focused one also seems to be in the cards!</strong></em></p>

<p>Lamborghini seems to be rapidly stepping up its electrification after a plug-in hybrid version of its best-selling car, the Urus was recently spotted during road tests. The car is expected to make a debut later this year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Visual indicators that proved it’s a hybrid included a flap on the driver’s side rear fender. The matte-finish door is tacked onto the body and behind it is the slot to charge the vehicle. Also, the PHEV decal on the windshield.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The PHEV model is not expected to have new cosmetics considering that the test mule carries forward the same front end as the current model. The car was spotted without the updated grille, hood, rear genders and other elements that we saw on the revised model.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier speculations regarding the car stated that it will be powered by Porsche’s LK5 engine which is a hybrid-assisted twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine that is also under the hood of cars like the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. In the current state of tune, it makes 679bhp. However, word on the internet states that <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/lamborghini/">Lamborghini </a>might tweak the state of tune to output 808bhp which would be a significant upgrade over the existing 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with 632bhp.</p>

<p>In addition to the hybrid versions, the new range of <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/lamborghini/urus/">Urus </a>is also expected to have the current engine as well, but with a higher output. The eight-speed gearbox, however, could be retained from the existing model.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In addition to the standard Urus, there are also talks about a performance-focused model that will sit in between the aforementioned two. It would allegedly deliver 690bhp and will weigh less to be a sportier crossover.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Nonetheless, we expect the updated Urus to debut this year in August, but we are not sure if the hybrid will be showcased at the same time or come later.&nbsp;</p>

Lamborghini Urus hybrid spotted testing ahead of official debut

Lamborghini is all set to debut the updated Urus in August this year and it seems like the Italian carmaker also has a plug-in hybrid version of the popular SUV in the cards. Here's everything that we know so far.

<p><em><strong>The Urus continues to be one of the best-selling models for Lamborghini around the world. The company, in June, rolled out the 20,000th unit of the car after crossing the 15,000-mark in July last year. </strong></em></p>

<p>This reflects an impressive yearly sale of 5,000 units which has come in just 4 years since its launch. Globally, the Urus was the brand’s best-selling model in the last calendar year making up more than half of the company’s overall sales. Of the 8,504 units Lamborghini delivered in the last calendar year, the Urus raked up 5,021 units of it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>.From the first moment we presented the Urus concept at the Beijing motor show in 2012, to its market debut in 2018 and each year since, the Urus has proved its instant and continued appeal as a true <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/lamborghini/">Lamborghini</a>, born from our super sports heritage and the world's first Super <a href="https://www.autox.com/suv-cars-in-india/" target="_blank">SUV</a>, the LM 002,” said Stephan Winkelman, Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and CEO.</p>

The credit for this super quick acceleration goes to the 4.0-litre V8 motor that makes peak power of 641bhp and max torque of 850Nm. The Urus gets it's stopping power with the help of 440mm carbon ceramic brakes up front and 370mm ones at the back.</p>
