Established in 2005 Nissan Motor India Private Limited (NMIPL) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Company of Japan. In 1999, Nissan was facing severe financial difficulties due to which it allied with Renault.
The first ever Nissan car in India was the X-Trail, which was brought in as a CBU. However, the X-Trail failed to take off as a successful model due to Nissan’s unfamiliarity with the Indian car buyers. The same was the case with the other Nissan car models like the 370Z and the Teana. The former was launched in 2010 and the latter in 2011.
