Honda has recently launched a BS6 OBD2-compliant product in the form of the Shine 125 in the Indian market - a 125cc commuter bike with a classic minimalistic design. The 2023 Shine 125 has a single-pod headlamp, a single-piece seat, a side-slung exhaust, chrome side covers, updated graphics, a chrome muffler cover, chrome elements on the headlight cowl, and a smart taillight. The bike sits on 5-spoke black alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres. Geny Grey Metallic, Black, Matte Axis Grey, Decent Blue Metallic, and Rebel Red Metallic are the five colour options offered on the 2023 Honda Shine. The pricing of the 2023 Honda Shine 125, which comes in two versions called Drum and Disc, starts at Rs 79,800 and goes up to Rs 83,800 (ex-showroom). In terms of market rivalry, the Shine 125 is Honda's answer to the likes of the Hero Glamour 125, the Bajaj Pulsar 125, the Hero Super Splendor 125, etc. Now, let's quickly go through the top highlights of the model:

2023 Honda Shine 125: Features

Speaking of its features, the 2023 Honda Shine 125 gets a DC headlamp, an engine start/stop switch, an external fuel pump, a high-beam flasher, a combined braking system with an equaliser, and a side-stand engine cut-off function. There is also a fully analogue instrument cluster that displays a trip meter, a speedometer, a fuel gauge, a side-stand warning, etc. 

2023 Honda Shine 125: Suspension, Braking

The 2023 Honda Shine 125 is suspended with the help of telescopic forks at the front and five-step adjustable rear springs to make the ride more comfortable across different terrains. As for the drum brake variant, braking responsibilities are carried out by 130mm drum brakes on both wheels, whereas the braking setup of the top-spec disc brake variant consists of a 240mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum brake at the rear. Additionally, Honda's Combi-Brake System (CBS) with equaliser aids the ride by balancing the braking power between the vehicle's front and back wheels.

2023 Honda Shine 125: Engine and Gearbox

Powering the 2023 Honda Shine 125 is a 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, including Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) technology, enhanced Smart Power (eSP), and a Honda ACG starter. This engine now meets OBD2 (onboard diagnostics) compliance and is also E20 fuel-ready. Similar to the previous model, the engine is coupled to a 5-speed gearbox. Power and torque figures stand at 10.6bhp at 7,500rpm and 11Nm at 6,000rpm, which also seem familiar. 

Besides, the 2023 motorcycle comes with a special 10-year warranty package (3-year standard warranty + 7-year optional extended warranty).

The new Honda Shine 125 is available in 5 colour schemes - Geny Grey Metallic, Black, Matte Axis Grey, Decent Blue Metallic, and Rebel Red Metallic - and two variants. The 2023 bike is priced as follows: Rs 79,800 for the drum brake variant and Rs 83,800 for the disc brake variant.
