New Hero Splendor Plus Spotted Testing in India; Shows Front Disc Brake, New Colour Options and More

Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to introduce an updated version of its highly popular commuter motorcycle, the Hero Splendor Plus, as a test mule was recently spotted on Indian roads. The latest spy images reveal key enhancements, including the addition of a front disc brake, marking a significant upgrade in braking performance. The upcoming model is also expected to feature new colour schemes, giving the iconic bike a fresh and modern appeal. While the overall design remains largely unchanged, minor cosmetic tweaks could be introduced to enhance its styling. With these updates, Hero aims to reinforce Splendor Plus’s position as a top-selling commuter motorcycle in India. An official launch is anticipated soon, with more details expected in the coming weeks.

New Hero Splendor Plus Spied: What to Expect?

The top-end XTEC variant of the Hero Splendor Plus was recently spotted at a dealership, sporting a new dual-tone paint scheme. The upcoming Disc variant is expected to feature a 240mm front disc brake, while the 130mm drum brake remains at the rear. Additionally, the bike will retain Hero’s Combined Braking System (CBS), which enhances stopping power and improves overall safety compared to the existing drum-only setup. The updated Splendor Plus lineup will introduce two fresh colour choices – Candy Red and Matt Axis Grey – alongside the current shades such as Matte Shield Gold, Bumble Bee Yellow, Black with Silver, Heavy Grey Green, Black With Purple, Silver Nexus Blue, Black With Red, Firefly Golden, and Beetle Red.

In terms of performance, the mechanical specifications remain unchanged. The bike continues to be powered by a 97.2cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, generating 7.91bhp of maximum power at 8,000rpm and 8.05Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. This powertrain is coupled with a four-speed constant mesh gearbox and a wet multiplate clutch. Notably, the updated model is anticipated to comply with OBD2B emission norms, ensuring better environmental standards.

Structurally, the motorcycle is built on a single-cradle frame, with telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers providing suspension support. Hero’s i3s (Idle Stop-Start) technology remains intact, offering enhanced fuel efficiency. The company claims that the Splendor Plus delivers an impressive mileage of 73km/l.

The new Disc variant is expected to be introduced in the coming weeks and will be positioned as the most premium model in the range. With a projected price of around Rs 80,000, it will be priced slightly higher than the current lineup, which starts at Rs 77,176 and tops out at Rs 79,926. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom figures. Upon launch, the upcoming iteration of the Splendor Plus will compete with rivals such as the TVS Radeon and the Bajaj Platina 100.
