Remember the Ford Escort which hit the Indian markets in 1996 and since then was available for the next five years after which it disappeared from Ford’s car line-up in India? This famous Ford Escort has returned and the Shanghai Motor Show was the best place for this new compact saloon concept.

Chinese buyers have been fans of compact saloons and with this concept, which is highly likely to make it to production, Ford promises the customers high level of technology, roomy interiors, elegant design and a brilliant driving experience. Ford hasn't planned to take this name anywhere else yet but India looks like a promising destination for the Escort.

The Ford Escort will be slotted between the Fiesta and the Focus. Ford’s Sales and Marketing chief Jim Farley too highlighted ‘the strength of the global One Ford approach to vehicle design’ while also saying that ‘the new Escort Concept has the potential to strengthen their product portfolio in China’
