Following the reveal of the Gloster Blackstorm Edition, Morris Garages has now launched the Astor Blackstorm in the Indian market. The price for the all-black model starts at Rs 14.48 lakh and goes up to Rs 15.77 lakh. Prices are ex-showroom. Similar to the Gloster Black Storm, the new Astor Black Storm edition comes with blacked-out elements on the outside, including an all-black honeycomb pattern grille, black finished headlamps, black alloy wheels (with red front brake callipers), black roof rails and door garnish, black front & rear bumpers, etc. Plus, a 'Blackstorm' badge is positioned on the front fender. There are no changes to the bodywork, however, there is a Starry Black colour on offer. Following in the footsteps of companies like Tata Motors with their Dark Edition and Volkswagen with their Deep Black Pearl, the MG Astor Blackstorm Edition, which is based on the Smart trim, includes an aesthetic overhaul inside out.
MG Astor Blackstorm Edition: Interior
An all-black treatment continues inside. The MG Astor Black Storm Edition offers an all-black theme with red accents on the dashboard, Tuxedo Black seat upholstery, steering wheel, and door trims. Other bits include an all-black floor console, JBL speakers, and Sangria Red-themed AC vents.
MG Astor Blackstorm Edition: Features
On the feature front, the special edition model comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof, a digital key with Bluetooth technology, electronic power steering with three modes, heated ORVMs, a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, and an electrically adjustable driver seat.
MG Motor's mid-size Astor is one of the most affordable cars to come with ADAS. The tech-laden SUV offers level 2 autonomous driving and features artificial intelligence. Its ADAS features include lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, autonomous emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. In all, the car comes with 49+ safety and i-Smart features.
MG Astor Blackstorm Edition: Engine and Transmission
Powering the Astor Blackstorm is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that gets a choice of a 5-speed manual as well as a CVT transmission. The power and torque figures of this engine stand at 110bhp and 144Nm, respectively. Note that the powertrain complies with the stricter BS6 Phase II or RDE norms. The MG Astor is not offered with a diesel drivetrain. So, buyers looking for a mid-size SUV with an oil burner will have to look at Hyundai or Kia.
