Once more, a new month of the year has begun, and it is now time for all automakers to report their sales figures. MG reported 4,185 units in retail sales in August, which is up from 3,823 vehicles sold during the same time in the previous year, exhibiting a YoY growth of about 10%. However, when comparing August 2023 to the month before, July 2023, the sales figure decreased. The sales fell by 827 units, or around 16.50%, in total. Coming to the previous month's sales, the company has credited the success to its range of models which include the Hector, the Astor, the Gloster, the MG ZS EV, and others. In the previous month, MG launched a special Gamer Edition of the Comet EV in India at Rs 8.63 lakh (ex-showroom). It is a product of a collaboration between MG and Naman Mathur, commonly known as Mortal, India's top gamer.
MG introduced the 2023 Gloster Blackstorm variant in the country in May this year. Now, the company is reportedly planning to launch the black edition of the Astor in the upcoming festive season to maintain its growth.
MG Astor Black Edition: What to Expect?
There aren't many specifics available regarding the MG Astor's anticipated black edition, but it's assumed that the vehicle will receive a number of upgrades from the base model. New amenities and upholstery will probably be included. Given the moniker, it will likely have some aesthetic improvements, such as a black paint job and blacked-out features on the outside and interior. Although specific pricing details for the upcoming black edition have not yet been released, one may anticipate that it will cost a little more than the current regular model, which sells for between Rs. 10.82 lakh and Rs. 18.69 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).
MG Gloster Blackstorm Edition
The MG Gloster Blackstorm 2023 model is now available in India at a starting price of Rs. 40.30 lakh (ex-showroom). This new deep black SUV offers a fresh look, along with additional features and the latest Level 1 ADAS capabilities. The MG Gloster Blackstorm comes in two drivetrain options, front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD).
The MG Gloster's Blackstorm variant's engine is still the same. A 2.0-litre single turbo-diesel engine with 163bhp is included in the 2WD variant. The 4WD variant, on the other hand, has a 2.0-litre twin turbo-diesel engine that makes 218bhp. An automated transmission with eight-speed is mated to both engines. The drivetrain of the 4WD variant, however, has a shift-on-the-fly BorgWarner transfer case that is absent from the 2WD model.
