The MG Hector Plus made its debut at the Auto Expo 2020. It will launch in July as a six-seater version of the Hector SUV, featuring captain seats in the middle and a third-row for teenagers/kids.

After showcasing the Hector Plus at the Auto Expo 2020 in February, MG Motor India has commenced the production of the vehicle at its Halol plant in Gujarat. MG has confirmed the Hector Plus will go on sale in the country from July 2020.

The MG Hector Plus, as the name suggests, is a longer (+40mm) and more spacious version of the Hector SUV as it gets an additional third-row of seats. According to MG, the Hector Plus will feature captain seats in the middle row, while the third-row will be for teenagers. This will essentially make the Hector Plus a six-seater (2+2+2).

In terms of design, the Hector Plus gets a lot of noticeable updates over the regular Hector. These include sleeker headlamps, a new grille, new front and rear bumpers, reprofiled tail-lights and revised skid plates. Although MG hasn’t revealed the interior of the vehicle fully, it’s expected to retain the same dashboard layout and equipment as of the regular Hector. So, expect the Hector Plus to feature the same 10.4-inch vertically stacked infotainment system and connected car features as the standard Hector.

The Hector Plus is expected to launch with the same set of petrol and diesel powertrains as the Hector, meaning there’ll be a 2.0-litre diesel and 1.5-litre petrol on offer. A six-speed manual transmission will be standard on all, while the petrol is expected to get a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic as an option.

The MG Hector is currently priced between Rs 12.74 lakh – Rs 17.44 lakh (ex-showroom), so expect the Hector Plus to command a premium of close to Rs 1 lakh – Rs 1.5 lakh over the regular model. When launched, it’ll compete with the likes of Mahindra XUV500 and Toyota Innova Crysta.
