MG Motor launched the BS6 Hector diesel, priced from ₹13.88 lakh to ₹17.72 lakh. Due to the stricter norms, the BS6 version is more expensive by ₹40,000 – 45,000 as compared to the BS4 Hector.

Morris Garage India has launched the BS6-compliant Hector diesel, which is priced from ₹13.88 lakh to ₹17.72 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-of-the-line variant. As expected, the BS6 Hector line up is pricier by ₹40,000 – 45,000 as compared to the BS4 models.

The Hector continues to be powered by the 2-litre Multijet II diesel engine, which is sourced from Fiat and is found under the hood of both the Jeep Compass and the Tata Harrier. Now, here’s an interesting fact, both the MG and Tata SUVs have an identical power output of 168bhp, but the BS6 Compass pumps out an additional 2bhp more, making it a total of 172bhp. Coming back to the Hector, it’s mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, and there is still no automatic diesel version available.

The MG Hector continues to be one of the most tech-and-feature laden SUV available in the market, thanks to the fancy 10.4-inch vertical infotainment system, 8-speaker music system with an amplifier and sub-woofer, mobile connectivity features, embedded eSIM, and over 100 voice commands at your service.

In February this year, MG had launched the BS6 petrol version of the Hector. Its price range starts from ₹12.82 lakh and goes all the way up to ₹16.65 lakh. The petrol version is powered by a 141bhp 1.5-litre turbocharged motor with 250Nm of torque and is available in two options – a standard trim and a mild-hybrid variant. The former is available with both a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic DCT, while the latter is only offered with a manual transmission.
