LamborghiniIf there is any tour that comes along once in a life time, this is the one you really don’t want to miss. To celebrate 50 glorious years of the ‘raging bull’, Italian supercar legends Lamborghini recently concluded a special Grand Tour in Italy. A total of 350 of the finest cars participated in the tour of which 320 cars were registered participants and 30 cars were arranged for the press and special guests of Lamborghini. The tour was also the largest gathering of Lamborghini cars ever.

The theme of the Tour was celebrating ‘Made in Italy’, and the beautiful procession of lustful cars started on May 8th at the Piazza Castello in Milan. 700 drivers and co-drivers from 29 different countries gathered in front of the Sforzesco Castle and the Grand tour was flagged off. It must have been a magnificent sight to behold as a combined 190,000bhp moved along in a 4km long formation on the streets of Italy.

The highest number of participants hailed from the United Kingdom, with 71 cars, followed by Italy, Germany and Switzerland with over 30 cars each. There were also 21 cars from the United States and 17 from China. Other participants brought their cars all the way from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kuwait, Lebanon, New Zealand, South Korea and Tunisia. It truly was a spectacular event and was an experience that any petrol head would have loved to be a part of.

Some of the most historic Lamborghini cars on the tour included three 350 GTs, five 400 GTs, seventeen Miuras, eight Espadas, two Jaramas, six Urracos, 15 Countachs, one LM 002, 21 Diablos and 36 Murcielagos. The Gallardo was seen the most as there were 123 of them, and this was expected because it is the most successful Lamborghini model of all time.

The tour continued to Bobbio and ended in Forte deiMarmi on the first day, which is one of the most exclusive resorts on the Tyrrhenian coast. The second day saw the tour move towards Rome, and on the third day the parade of cars ended in Bologna where the drivers were greeted like heroes. The tour finally came to a halt in Sant’Agata Bolognese, headquarters of the House of the Raging Bull, where a gala dinner was hosted celebrating the Italian car maker’s milestone.
