The rugged spirit of the Renault 4 EV hatch has taken shape in the form of the Savane 4X4 Concept. The show car is designed for the modern-day 'gentleman explorer, which means it targets adventurous and style-conscious drivers who prefer both off-road ability and refined design. It keeps the Renault 4's design while introducing several key enhancements, the most significant of which is perhaps a dual electric motor powertrain. The addition of a second electric motor on the rear axle enables a full-time all-wheel drive.
As of now, the French automaker hasn't shared details on the battery pack used in the concept. Industry reports, however, suggest that the Savane 4X4 Concept may have the same 52kWh unit found in the standard version. It is also expected to deliver more power than the single-motor model, which has an output of 150bhp/250Nm, with a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 8.5 seconds.
